We're not gonna get Bale

Numbers

I doubt it. But there is no way Man United can afford to spend £120 million on Bale, they have just spent £250 million in a calendar year, and are still £400 million in debt. ok>

Hope he did put one in there, wouldn't put it past him.

By the way, your dodgey maths (ironically for someone called Numbers) made me think about Bale's transfer fee. I looked it up to be sure.

£85 million, right? Well, apparently not:

"The Spanish press (and Real Madrid TV) reported that Bale had cost £77 million (€91 million), while the British press reported a world record transfer fee of £85.3 million (€100 million), which would be above Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer record fee of £80 million (€94 million)."

If the Spanish press, Real Madrid TV and the president of Real Madrid are correct, we actually got almost a quarter of an Andy Carroll less than the reported £85 million for Bale. I had no idea about this.

Doubt it. You ripped them off in the first place. Unlikely Madrid would put a clause in that would benefit Spurs if he leaves.

Liverpool claimed 75m for Suarez but Barca said 61.3m

1 league goal so far. Bargain.

Bale will not leave Madrid for United, he's rejected them twice, the evening standard reported this exclusive information

posted on 23/12/14

Probably nonsense, but it sickens me the way Real Madrid buy and sell players every year, like they must always have the new kid on the block. It makes a complete mockery of football. About time the authorities come up with some more financial rulings to stop this merry go round of players being transferred for ridiculous fees. Real Madrid being financed by a Government is hardly a level playing field.

We accepted 120 million from United for Bale but he rejected them to go to Madrid instead, why would he change his mind when he's winning every thing and playing with the best to go play with a load of average players.

Also Ronaldo is more likely to leave Madrid than Bale, if Ronaldo goes they need Bale to fill his place

Cos Man U are by far the biggest team in England, with an unmatched global profile. I have no love for Man U, but those who try to denigrate them are just ridiculous. It wasn't too long ago huge teams like Real and Bayern were struggling badly in their leagues and Europe. Even Barca were having a mare before Guardiola radically turned it around in one season.

Oh, and if you believe some of the gossip, Bale (despite interviews claiming otherwise - probably just PR) doesn't quite enjoy Spain as much as England. He hardly looks an urbane, cosmopolitan fella, does he? Didn't 'Arry speak of how he always ran back to Wales at every opportunity when he was at Spurs?

No, he's not. Ronaldo is head, shoulders, waist and knees above any player in Madrid and irreplaceable. And seems to be getting even better.

Sheriff knows, he is in the Real Madrid camp every day. FFS, you don`t know any more than the rest of us. Stop trying to second guess. HTF do you know that Ronaldo will not want to go elsewhere for a new challenge?

posted on 23/12/14

I agree with Sheriff, actually. I don't think Ronaldo is more likely to leave and that Bale is needed to fill his place as Bale just isn't capable of doing that.

Ronaldo looks to be making a transition towards being more of a cf, which could prolong his career as he enter his 30's.

It's hard second guessing Madrid, though.

Madrid probably played down the world record fee for Bale in order to placate Ronaldo, who was bound to be a little miffed to not be the world`s most expensive footballer any more.

United would be better off spending £120m on defenders

You would find it difficult to pay the wages Bale would demand.

Yeah which makes the mythical first option clause redundant.

And??? Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in England and were one of the most successful clubs in world football years ago. I highly doubt any of the real top players would even look the way of Liverpool right now. Just because united are a huge club Dosent mean they have the gods given right or guaranteed to get a player of bales caliber. If bale comes back to England ever which he won't then it will be back to spurs. He even said on one of his interviews recently that he wouldn't rule out ever returning to spurs and that he never would of player for any other English club.

posted on 23/12/14

Yet if you aren't willing to stump up the money that all the top clubs in England can, which is likely, it makes any first option - which is by no means even there - redundant as having the first option on a player you can't afford is about as useful as a chocolate tea pot.

Bit silly comparing us with Liverpool. We are a much richer and bigger club than them.

The king, we are hardly a poor club mate. If we really wanted bale say in 5 years time we would be able to afford him. We have a chairman who is very tight with our transfers but we have a multi billionaire in joe Lewis who owns spurs. If we really wanted bale in the future we could get him and If coming back to England was ever going to happen then bale Would choose us over anyone
