Why should he and his family put up with the abuse? Good luck to him sticking two fingers up to their deluded fans. He's a decent manager and will do well at Palace, and won't be surprised if they finish above the barcodes next season. Newcastle to Crystal Palace isn't a huge step down anyway.

Pardew'll take us down.

Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.

Newcastle have every right to hate Pardew, they have a decent squad and every season he's underachieving with them.

You have to ask many questions here.

First, why would Pardew go?

The most obvious reason is that he is tired. Tired of the abuse he receives every week. Tired of losing his best players. Tired of not being appreciated at all. Another reason is that he may want to live in London.

But I think the real question is, is it really a backward step? Newcastle show no interest in buying better players or even improving as a club. I keep seeing reports of fans baying for the manager's blood when in reality it is the chairman who is at fault.

Running a club as big as Newcastle in a way to actually challenge takes ambition and costs money - Ashley is taking money out not putting it in. Newcastle is a poison chalice for any half decent manager. They will not get funds to build a team and the chairman will be happy with any finish which keeps them in the premier league.

At Palace, Pardew will be supported from all sides. If he keeps Palace up, he'll be a hero, adored. And then he'll receive the backing of the club financially. He'll be able to build some sort of team without being hounded every day.

So would it really be a backward step?

Lambert?

It'll be someone on a free.. Pulis seems the obvious candidate.

Well the abuse must've been intense at times but this is the nature of football at the highest level. Look at some of the flack Wenger's had to take over the last few seasons, you don't see him looking to take over vacant positions at West Brom though do you!

As to your charts Andy I notice that they only include 15 teams which skews things rather. I think Pardew's shown he can do a good job. You might end up regretting him leaving.

Because the teams in the division have changed. 15 mainstays.

A decent squad? These planks sell their best players and have you seen who they've recruited as staff in the past? I mean, Joe Kinnear ffs

This club can go no further with idiots at the top, no matter who the manager is.

The squad is decent. We've only really sold Cabaye who's not been replaced.

Debuchy, Cabaye, Ba, Jose Enrqiue, Routledge, Nolan, Carroll.

You're excepting miracles from this bloke

Debuchy replaced by Janmaat who's been better than debuchy was
Ba who was replaced by Remy and now Ayoze
Enrique has been replaced by 2 players
Routledge you're just using to strengthen your argument, Pardew decided he didn't want him
Nolan was replaced by Cabaye
Carroll by Ba.

Ashley is selling for as much as he can and buying on the cheap. You have to say they have found some good players but in the end, Newcastle will not be able to sustain this. The plan is just financial and not football.

"Because the teams in the division have changed. 15 mainstays."

Sure but taking this into account makes the statistics appear a little less harsh for Newcastle and Pardew.

I think the debate here is really interesting. Ashley has clearly made some very questionable decisions in the past, Kinnear being a good example (as both manager and then later on DOF) and let's not even mention the appointments of Dennis Wise and Alan Shearer during Newcastle's relegation season. But since the appointment of Hughton and Newcastle's re-emergence into the Premier League the ship has looked much more steady.

Pardew did have to put up with the sale of his best players including Cabaye and Ba and they didn't strengthen for a while, too long in my opinion. But they have bought in some real talent over the last 12 months and so Ashley should be praised for rectifying the situation.

As to Palace, the club is poverty let's face it. Championship standard, Newcastle have far more potential if run and managed effectively.

You're not getting it.

You need a big squad to get anywhere near what Newcastle fans want. You simply weren't allowed to keep those players because Ashley is a businessman and not a football man. He's only interested in profit. Buy cheap, and sell for a profit. No manager is going to change that.

Ashley runs the club the way he does. Still doesn't excuse the manager from clear and repeated mistakes not to mention breaking almost every negative record possible.

So it's going to be vicious cycle then. who do you want to come in?

Didn't Newcastle recently go 2 full years without paying a transfer fee for incoming permanent transfers?

posted on 29/12/14

Been linked with a few. Bruce and Pulis I'd stay clear of. Sherwood I'd not be over the moon but rather him than Pardew. Been linked with a few foreign managers, Galtier at St Etienne and Tuchel who've both done very well at their current/former club. Someone that actually tries to win games rather than the dour negative rubbish we've watched over the last 4 years.

Talk about looking only at the negatives. Pardew's re-established you back in the Prem and had you in Europe in his first full season in charge. Pretty impressive if you think about it. He also gets you guys playing good football and has shown he can perform under pressure. And talking about records wasn't Pardew the first PL manager to string 5 consecutive wins together something even José hasn't manager this season. How about a little credit where it's due?
