James McCarthy Rumour

He's a v good player I think.

He's a really good player and seems like someone Pochettino would be interested in signing. Everton's position could make it a possibility- but given that they spent like £15m on him, surely they'd want a profit on that? By which point I do not think it makes sense for Tottenham to spend that amount on him.

hard working, gritty and controls the midield so definetlY a poch player but he's not a priority for me. Now if we were to get in a striker and McCarthy then fair enough i'm all for that.

Be a very good signing. His attributes are perfect for poch system and bentaleb will be away with acon and mason is injured

Good player but seems injury prone. Would prefer a more creative CM.

What about Cabaye. He is a fantastic passer, eye for goal and proven in the premier league...

PSG might sell cheap as well as he doesn't start for them

Cabaye would be my top choice. Doesn't seem to be getting much game time at PSG. Him and eriksen linking up together would be incredible.

cabaye is available on loan only i think. would be a good option but would have more alternative options than mccarthy i think.

the problem i see in midfield is that it isn't a priority when everyone is fit, but pooch's style depends on high intensity energetic midfielders who are also good on the ball, and have bite.

which is why paulinho capoue and dembele have often struggled this season… whereas bentaleb and mason haven't.

paulinho will surely be moved on, possibly capoue too (dembele's performance v chelsea may have saved his spurs career), and so mccarthy would be a welcome addition.

another attacking option, and a centre back also key areas to strengthen.

Decent player but I won't top 4 quality, we have to be more ambitious

Just pay the money for Cabaye and Benteke

cabaye and mccarthy are totally different type of players with different attributes…

why the debate about cabaye instead of mccarthy?

if poch wants an all action defensive minded midfielder then cabaye is obviously not the man, mccarthy is.

if poch wants a bit more creativity and forward thinking, but less bite, then cabaye is the man, not mccarthy.

they are totally different kind of players.

They're not totally different at all, Cabaye is good defensively too, he puts himself about

Plus he's better on the ball and has a goal in him

cabaye is a better player i agree.

but he offers different things to what mccarthy offers.

i think you missed my point.

just because cabaye is good defensively doesn't mean that he is better at it than mccarthy.

i say again, if poch is looking for a gritty DM style CM then mccarthy is a better option.

if poch is looking for a more all round midfielder, with attacking qualities then cabaye is the better option.

cabaye is clearly the better player… but its about the team, and what exactly poch is looking to add to the side/squad.

plus i don't see how cabaye is even possible. lets be realistic.

next thing we will be talking about we should sign nigel de jong.

MP: "Hi Daniel, hows the Schinderlin move progressing?"

DL: "Really well. I think McCarthy is interested. The priority now is getting Everton to sell him for next to nothing. If disrespect their club enough, they might fagree to a move at 11:50pm on deadline day"

MP: "I don't understand...You promised me four times you would go all out for Morgan. He's better than McCarthy, knows my system, wants to leave Southampton and is again having a great season"

DL: "Yea, but Franco and Chronic reckon we need some more average central midfielders. Right now, we only have Capoue, Mason, Bentelab and Dembele. If one of those guys gets injured it's curtains. You can never have too many average holding midfielders".

MP: "But don't you want to bring in someone whose a definite upgrade on what we already have?".

DL: "Leave it to the professionals, sunshine".

Cabaye isn't getting a game at PSG, and I doubt better clubs than us will be in for him

I don't really see your point tbh, Cabaye would suit our team better. You've admitted he's the better player, and we could do with a better passer in the middle. In addition, I'm not a fan of stats but whoscored.com have his average tackles and interceptions over the past 5 years as near enough identical to McCarthy's, in fact slightly better

Chronic, different subject but as you didn't answer me on the other thread......atmosphere at the lane against ch avs on a scale of 1 - 10? did we give the ba stards stick all game?

I totally agree and have been preaching it on here for awhile.
Levy needs to back Poch and bring in the players HE wants. Poch wants players that will fit his system, this IMO is so important. For example I'm no fan of J Rod but if Poch wants him levy should go get him.

It's not how good we think the targets are its more about players Poch has singled out which he feels will fit his system. So if Poch has identified McCarthy as a player that he feels will fit HIS system Levy should back him and us as fans should also back and respect his decisions.

Poch has identified Schinderlin [who is on the verge as leaving] as a priority. Their previous working relationship at Southampton would suggest to me that he could be his number 1 target. Everyone knows he will leave sooner rather than later.

The McCarthy thing is likely to be Levy and Baldini doing entirely their own thing again, as they did when AVB was Head Coach. Just watch, our January transfers will be either awful or non-existent

posted on 2/1/15

It's obvious Poch wants Schinderlin so Levy must go all out and get him.

Schinderlin as you say mate looks like Pochs number 1 target Levy MUST go all out and get him.

Don, I was there all game and it was quality.

We were winning for the majority of the match but we out sung them all game. We are Tottenham From the Lane, when the spurs go marching in and mourinho's right your fans are sh.!te were sung by the whole ground at one point.

I sit in Paxton and even we were starting chants around the stadium

"It's so easy at the lane" was also sung at 4-1 by the whole ground, as a dig at them for singing it after going 1-0 up"

Oh and Harry Kane he's one of our own was deafening after his second!
