Excellent. Hopefully we can make a charge and win the league, or finish second. Failing that, a play-off spot.

You change it so often, so I and everyone else know you and refer to you as Bute. Is it a problem?

I've kept mine since this site started. Not sure why posters do change tbh.

It's not difficult. Just go to "settings".

Thank you

Afobe bid must have been leaked. Hopefully by Arsenal.

I never said it was difficult Bute. I just queried why posters change them, that's all. Do you have to be so argumentative?

Decent report as ever from WS10

I have to say, from what I've seen that was our most complete away performance of the season. We were probably more dominant against Fulham way back in August, but they were in a mess at the time and there for the taking. This is a very good Blackburn side, yet we imposed ourselves on the game, defended stoutly, and attacked with real purpose. My only gripe is that the margin of victory wasn't larger, it would have made those final few moments a lot more comfortable.

I thought we started the game pretty well, first half we had a strong foothold in the game. The midfield shield of McDonald/Price was effective in stopping Blackburn's supply into the front pair, and although we barely tested Steele in the Rovers goal, we got into some very dangerous positions, but lacked a bit of quality with the final ball. Van La Parra in particular was guilty of dallying or pausing, allowing Blackburn to get a block in. Dicko's shot nearly squirmed in at the near post, and Batth had one nodded off the line with a loopy header from a corner. At the other end, Blackburn had 2 or 3 good chances, all of them fell to Gestede it seemed, but Ikeme was only needed on one occasion, flinging himself across to push Marshall's goal bound free kick away.

We started the second half on the front foot, and were rewarded almost immediately. Dicko did some sterling work with his back to goal, before teeing up Edwards, whose finish was perfectly placed into the far corner. In terms of build up play it was as good as we've produced this season, I'd suggest. The game seemed to open up after that, Blackburn pushed forward looking to put our young defence under pressure, but that in turn opened up plenty of gaps for us to exploit. Dicko thumped the crossbar with a wonderful effort, Van La Parra shanked the rebound over, Edwards twice couldn't connect with a sliding pass, and Henry fizzed one inches over after a mazy, 40 yard run. At the other end, the closest Blackburn came was when Stearman inadvertently nodded a clearance against his own post. It would have been very harsh, as Stearman was once again excellent. Right at the end, we were almost made to pay for our profligacy in front of goal when King found space in the box, his shot was on target, but Ikeme was equal to it, getting down smartly to smother it. Ikeme also made one excellent save just before Gestede was surprisingly substituted, flicking the striker's effort over the bar.

I thought defensively we were excellent again. Although Batth and Stearman struggled in the air against the powerful Gestede, they kept the shackles on Rhodes to the extent that I struggle to recall him getting a sight on goal. Iorfa and Hause continued to impress with performances of real composure and maturity.

The midfield of Price and McDonald has been very effective in recent weeks, and today was no exception. They complement each other really well, and I think McDonald's best performances this season have come in recent games, alongside Price. Today he was very good, broke up play well and retained possession effectively, whilst Price kept things ticking over without fuss.

The attacking players really worked hard for the team, and became increasingly influential as the game went on, Henry in particular was terrific, I thought. Although there was no goal for Dicko, he was as industrious and troublesome as ever, and Hanley, who I thought was excellent for Blackburn, really struggled at times to keep tabs on him.

Overall, I think the team can be very pleased with the result, as it sends out a real message. To go to a probably play-off rival, and put in a performance of such quality, endeavour and dominance, coupled with recent results, would suggest that the second half of the season has the potential to be very good. Strap yourselves in folks!

Ratings:

Ikeme- 8. Struggled with his kicking, but made three important saves, and came out to punch the ball on a couple of occasions, relieving the pressure.

Iorfa- 8. Seems to grow in stature with every game, struggle to think of an error in the 90 plus minutes. Occasionally exuberance gets the better of him and he loses the ball by taking an extra touch, but that will improve with experience. I think we've got a good one here.

Batth- 7. Kept the backline well organised, and was a threat at the other end with some good headers.

Stearman- 9. Continued his excellent form, made some vital tackles and blocks, and barely gave Rhodes a sniff.

Hause- 7. A couple of times he allowed the ball to bounce and was alost caught, but generally pretty solid, and got forward well, first half especially.

Price- 8. Did what he needed to, broke things up, and kept the ball moving. Only thing is, he's very reluctant to shoot. A couple of times the ball broke to him on the edge of the box, and had he taken the shot, with all the bodies in the way, anything could happen.

McDonald- 8. Did well again, put his foot in when he needed to, and generally kept things very tidy. Played a couple of very good passes to launch counter attacks too. Unlucky to be booked, I don't think it was a foul and the referee had previously allowed some far more cynical challenges to go unpunished.

Henry- 9- MotM. Probably won't get many plaudits, but I thought that was arguably his best game in a Wolves shirt, up there with Sheffield United away. He was so calm in possession, he hardly gave it away, and when attacking he chose the right option more often than not. Showed tremendous work rate too, as the game stretched and opened, he kept up with the more pacey Van La Parra and Dicko.

Edwards- 8. Scored a great goal, and put in his usual faultless work rate. Helped pressure the back line into some rushed clearances, and was unlucky not to get on the end of a couple of other chances.

Van La Parra- 7. Carried the ball with real purpose, but the final ball more often than not let him down. I don't think he looks up often enough when he runs, so quite often runs into traffic, and allows defenders to get back. If he knocked the ball 20 yards past his man and ran after it, I doubt they'd catch him, so I'd like to see him be a bit more direct.

Dicko- 8. Worked like a trojan again, spent a lot of time with his back to goal, holding things up and making things stick. Unlucky with a fantastic effort with cannoned back off the ball, and set up Edwards for the winner.

Subs:

Doherty/Ebanks-Landell- Came on just to shore things up, and did just that.

Do you copy the garbage you and Wolfie come out with onto mol mix?

OOOPS.

Apologies DJ, i don't mean to make you feel threatened youngen

To be fair, Cinci can only copy and paste other people's opinions, or stats that he researches, as he is living abroad. Nothing wrong with that as long as you realise that's what it is. We all contribute in our own way.

Not at all Bute, but as ever that comment sums you up perfectly.

A vile, spiteful, infantile piece of work

I see our man who goes to matches is getting a bit jealous.

Nice find cinci and a good report.

Can anyone better that? You DJ?

posted on 11/1/15

Yeah, its funny Wolfie really, because you would be led to believe that any opinion elsewhere is not worthy.

Definately Jealous (DJ)

Personally, I like to read all the reports on the games we win and there's nothing wrong with someone posting what they find elsewhere on here. I found it a very interesting read. Shame others can't do anything but complain.

DJ is like the teacher in Grange Hill who always turns up after the event and blames the wrong kids

Just watched all of Afobe's goals this season.

He looks as comfortable on his left foot as his right
90% of his goals have come from central positions where he's been played. Not much wandering down the flanks like Dicko does.

Worryingly the majority of his goals are from through balls from midfield that he runs on to. They have a great future prospect in Deli Ali at MK Dons supplying him. Hope he can build up that relationship with McDonald and Sako.

Or of course a creative number ten such as Jesse Lingaard

aww do I always blame the wrong people Cinci? Never mind, one day you will be mature enough to take responsibility for what you write, don't worry. Isn't it time you progressed beyond the schoolkid mentality of 'it's not my fault teacher'.

And sorry pundit, Wolfie and Cinci that I felt so jealous and threatened about your copy article. I can understand why you came to that conclusion by me not making a single comment about it . Almost makes you wonder why people don't respect you idiots more doesn't it

posted on 11/1/15

Ah, if just once you acknowledged that your side kick Bute was the catalyst

I take full responsibility for what i write DJ, i do apologise if it doesn't fit your opinion, but that is freedom of speech for you.

I enjoyed Micks time, but i do blame him for how it ended, sorry you don't like that, but tough. GB feels the same, i don't see you telling him he is an imbecile? Cowardice maybe? I guess so.

I want a more dynamic player in the ten role, again, i am sorry that doesn't fit with your opinion(anymore) but again, tough crap.

I have never had a problem telling Wolfie or Perton to pack it in if they cross the line, but will you ever do the same regarding Bute? Nope, of course not.

posted on 11/1/15

Ha yeah Pundit, but thats the world we live in, now now now rather than a long term vision.

You get more pathetic by the minute Cinci.

There is a difference, that you don't seem to understand, between having a different opinion to someone, and feeling what they write is garbage. Your issue about a number ten is a perfect example. I too would like us to bring in someone else that can play in that position. But what I disputed with you was that what a number 10 does is something that could be defined on Wikipedia. And their description was something that might fit Maradona but not someone that plays at our level. So as so often I did not argue with you at all about your opinion, but I thought the reasons you put forward was complete garbage, as it often is. Every team needs something different from a number ten, it's not something off a production line. But all I hear from you is this pathetic bleeting that I won't accept a different opinion.

And why on earth should I show cowardice towards GB? Is he a heavyweight boxer or a judo black belt? I usually agree with him but not always but I do respect his views as I do with most people on here. But for reasons like above, I have little respect for you and a few others.

As for Bute why should I have a go at him. He has never said anything that has made me feel agitated. And I don't see anyone other than you and Wolfie arguing with him week after week. Just because you have a problem with someone don't assume everyone else has. I see far more people criticising you, Wolfie, Perton and pundit than I do him.

Are you American DJ? Interesting use of the word 'garbage' there.
