I think the fact that more and more of these attacks are coming from people born and bred in the country they reside, suggests it's not an issue with the Middle East but with the religion in general

-------
Pretty islamaphobic opinion there. There is no justification for any murders based on anything.

Islamaphobic, explain?

As I said in that same post, I've not an issue with Islam in isolation, but all religion based on books written thousands of years ago.

They hold little to no relevance in today's society. If you believe there is something out there that guides you through life and after death, great, no need for a book or man made rules for that.

Oh no they drew a picture of a guy who doesn't exist, and upset some deluded followers of such fictional being.

It's not about what you think is real or not. It's about the magazine INTENTIONALLY provoking and vilifying a section of society with something they hold dear. It's not about the actual content itself necessarily.
....

The magazine was aimed at a certain audience, an audience who buy the magazine because they enjoy the comedy and satire. I'm not sure their aim was to wind up as many people as possible.

The argument was that where muslims dominate extremism follows. That is not the case in any of those countries

It comes down to this. Anyone is allowed to ridicule religion (any religion!) if that's what they want to do. As long as you're not going into places of worship or people's homes or specifically targeting people of faith in order to mock them, ridicule is entirely acceptable.

Charlie Hebdo drew pictures! That's all they did. The pictures mocked various religions including Islam. Fair play. There is NOTHING wrong with that. If they went into Mosques and started handing out the pictures to Muslims then that would be wrong. But they didn't.

So get over yourself with your sense of outrage over a few cartoons!

Please watch this video containing the content and tell me what is comical or satirical about the content?

Regardless, if I wanted to do 'satire' about 9/11 would it be welcomed as equally?

Mate, no matter which way you dress it up, you don't respond to a 2HB with an AK47
----------------------------------------------------------------------

PLEASE LISTEN TO WHAT I'M SAYING.

This article is not about whether the extremists are justified.

It's about:

A. A magazine being portrayed as freedom of political speech.

B. it's actually not, but because of it's irresponsibility with free speech it jeopardizes the efforts of those that have something valid to say.

C. They were being hateful in order for profit, not political freedom.

D. People should view the content before forming an opinion on the nobility of the magazine's content.

E. Muslim people being put in the same box as violent extremists
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a magazine, if people don't like it it's their right not to read it, nothing is being forced on anyone, it's not jeopardising anything, if people lose their self control after looking at pages in a magazine that no one is forcing them to read then they should really look at themselves before pointing the finger at others.

my views on extremism

I do not know the actual statistics but i am sure there are over 1 billion muslims. From a statistical point of view the fact that thousand of muslims carry out heinous crimes is actually a very small statistic.

Carrying out this crime under the slogan of islam is the bigger problem. The negative PR. Cos ignorant non muslims begin to percieve other billion or so muslims as a threat.

The muslim community imho should be the one to take the strongest actions in reprimanding this extremists. Non muslims reprimanding creates and us against them mentality in which many muslims feel they are being persecuted. An environment to breed the next generation of terrorists as we are seeing today.

Thank you for articulating your argument in a clear and well written manor rather than simply hurling abuse. I take your point on board.
