Why are some people so adamant Suarez should be in that team? In whose place, Messi's, Ronaldo's or Robben's, and on what basis?
How is muller not in that team?

Suarez should be in the team in place of Di Maria and move Iniesta back or replace him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think Suarez did enough during the 2014 calendar year to merit a place.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's just like whack a mole, as soon as you think you've got rid of all the Scousers making a case for Suarez - who didn't even make the final 23 - another one pops up to bleat on.
But your point is the key one, the guy won nothing with his club, nothing with his country, and has scored fewer goals in calendar 2014 than either Costa, Aguero, or even Bony.
Japanese coach has to be the worst one - Courtois, Neuer and Iniesta.

He was probably just swayed by the fact that the only person he has ever seen over 6 feet tall is Godzilla.
I'm guessing Suarez will have to go a year without biting and being part of Barca's team to get in. Crazy that he was the best player in the world for a large part of last year and he couldn't even make the best eleven. That's politics in football for you.
Ronaldo a deserving winner, without a doubt the best player over the year.

We have been over all this, yet entirely predictably there is a Liverpool fan still claiming it is all to do with politics/FA conspiracies/Ferguson/voting fraud etc etc.
Though you are correct that a year without biting someone else on the field of play might just help his cause.

..............
No he was not.
Wow Hodgson voted Mascherano as his first choice. Guy is just a clown, simple as that.

Was he really the best player in the world FOR A LARGE PART of last year?
He was certainly the best player in the PL for the 2013/14 season. Last year he was excellent in the main from January to the end of the season in the PL (apart from a goalless February). But I'd argue he was more than matched by Ronaldo's exploits in La Liga and the CL. He had a good game at the WC against England. He's done nothing then to warrant a mention. So a good 3.5 months doesn't really qualify him for an award.

Hard to argue with that Neo.
Messi had 41 goals and 14 assists from 46 club appearances in 2013/14. The fact most agree he had a 'poor season' underlines the ridiculous standards he and CR have set.

David Luiz?
Kroos?
Iniesta?
Where on earth is Modric?
He was brilliant last season.
Wouldn't argue with Kroos tbh

Kroos had moments but was nothing more than solid.
Modric ran,alongside Di Maria,Madrids midfield.
And what about Godin?
Another quality performer.

Based on his slowish start at barca and his average second half of the season at Liverpool last year I agree he shouldn't be in
But I disagree with the ronaldo messi standards comments
He's not competing with them at all. No one is
Everyone else just needs to be better than the best of the rest

Agreed.
Though tell that to the Liverpool fans, some of whom were very happy last season to proclaim him the "(second) best player in the world".
Through Xmas/Jan last season I'd say he had 3rd best wrapped up
From the end of Jan onwards he went off the boil a bit
David Luiz: as if anymore proof was needed as evidence that it's all a sham.
That header vs Holland to set up Blind is quite possibly the worst bit of defending in international football. Ever.
For me the only players that have been better than Suarez since the last time they named the team are Messi and Ronaldo. But he is sneaky and tried to eat someone served a huge ban so in the end I agree he can't be in it.
