I would have been there, remember the score, but cannot remember much about the game, certainly not being 2-0 down in four minutes, not even Gillie getting a hat-trick. I think young ladies were taking too much of my attention aroundabout that time, to remember to much about football games I can however remember plenty of great games with Burnley, the 4-4 draw in the double season, after being 4-0 up in 40 minutes. Some things never change.
The semi in 61 3-0 to Spurs
The final of 62 3-1 to Spurs
The 3rd round in 63 played on a Monday afternoon in March at WHL (me and a couple of matches tried to bunk of school for that match, but got caught before we got past the school gates. Detention, and a rollocking of the headmaster, Jack Farrow. Amusingly he asked me the score a few days later. Spurs lost 3-0.
Good old days.

Maybe it was this game?
12-Feb-66 F.A. Cup 4th 50,611 H Burnley W 4 - 3 Gilzean (3), Saul
I was 5 we had no internet no mobiles or even a house phone then we did have a newspaper and three TV Channels in Black & White - BBC1 , BBC2 & ITV so you can see the World was a lot younger then !!
Dont know you were born some of you whippersnappers.
1966 eh? Must be the one
Sandy, I remember the 0-3 played on a snowy afternoon, it was on a Monday due to the long harsh winter of that year when everything got delayed for a couple of months. Fitted games in whenever they could.

The 1963 game against Burnley, saw us play the 3rd round in March, I think one third round game was postponed 17 times or something ridiculous like that. The snow started on boxing day, was at at WHL to see Greavsie scored a hat-trick against Ipswich in a 5-0 win, second half the snow started to come down, and I don`t think it left of again then until March. Somehow though the season I think finished on time. Must have been playing every other day some teams with the backlog of fixtures.

Sandy, probably like you I can remember games from that era as if they were yesterday - ask me to remember where I just put something 10 minutes ago is another kettle of bananas altogether.

Agreed, I can remember every game I attended in the double season, 54 years ago, but cannot remember last seasons results. Memory.
I see Greateams is doing his best to ruin another article. He really is so tiresome, and like Messiah eloquently put it, he is like a stalker on the boards.

I read recently (can't remember where) that the style of football played by the Spurs team of the early/mid 60s was greatly hampered by the dreadful winter pitches of the day. The point was made that had the pitches been of todays quality the team would of won the league on more than the one occasion. Would you agree with that?

WHL did resemble a bog sometime aroundabout most early Decembers, but then a lotta of grounds were the same, so suppose it was a level playing field.
Certainly though what team should have won more titles, no question. Season 59/60 sitting top, then lost two home games in two or three days over Easter to Man City and Chelsea messed it up. Season 61/62 lost twice to Ipswich, and the title was lost by a couple of points.
Maybe I,ll do a regular weekly "memory lane" slot, some of the juniors on here might learn a thing or 2

Far be it from me to question you Numbers but it's a well know fact that black and white TV didn't arrive in Wales until 1989. In '68 I'd hazard a guess that you and many of your choir forming compatriots were still living in caves.
What a strange boy that Harry's is he is certainly showing extreme symptoms of Welshophobia with him giving his old boy a rest to write this banal response to my original comment.
I've told you before Numbers, I despise everyone in equal measure.
Harry's - Are you a member of ISIS as they have a similar approach to humanity ?
I can't recall Gilly's hat-trick in the game mentioned but I certainly remember Greavesy's 3 against Leicester in 1968 as I was there!
I was at White Hart Lane in 1968 when we beat Burnley 7-0. The incomparable Jimmy Greaves scored a hat-trick and I seem to remember Cliff Jones playing out of his skin but going off injured after bravely scoring a diving header and colliding with the post. He was our generation's version of Gareth Bale...double-quick!

No, I'm just antisocial whereas they're a bit more extreme than that. My leg pulling has never knowingly resulted in a loss of limbs.
