And I know that you don't all hold the view that the state should control our right to express ourselves freely, so I wonder what your motivation is here

Mick, you cannot go down this road ffs. You're better than that. And whatever you think our motivation is, you're wrong.
Again I'm disappointed in you.
Mick, saying "nígger" used to be a perfectly appropriate term to use. There was even a colour, nígger brown which was used until relatively recently. However, the word was rightly legislated against and I don't think anyone is complaining about that.
Why should hún be any different when it clearly and demonstratably is used in a sectarian manner?

You've dodged my question
Mick, you keep swinging the discussion back to generalities and political songs. Nobody on here is saying that someone should be arrested for singing political songs, even if we think football is an inappropriate place for it.
What we're trying to put across is that some terms, such as hún, are clearly and demonstrably sectarian. But you keep swerving that issue and bringing it back to areas where you're on solid foundations, and that we agree with you on.
But you're avoiding the real issue, which is that sectarian singing and chanting is sadly common in the Celtic support, admittedly more at away games, and was certainly on display in the recent Old Firm game.
Something you denied in the very first instance and haven't accepted.

p.s. Ivan used the "N" word twice.
Let's talk about that.

I've also used the "H" word multiple times.
But that's ok?
Listen I agree on the points regarding the SNP parties illegal childish made up law.
But the argument "they are bad and bigoted and we are political"
Is utter vvank.
It's all down to context and he agenda behind it.
Put it this way, in a pub I know the patrons have been warned against the add on "f the pope" they have instead been insurrected to change these add ons to"f seinn fein".
One reason given for this is that it makes it political and the polis couldn't huckle you. It was also mentioned that's how the tims get away with it so often.
Surely these are all part of the same agenda and problem.
Making excuses such as, "it's political which makes it ok" and "freedom of political expression is important to me" is handwringing and I'd go as far as to say encouraging it.
I am sure that there are huge amounts of bigots in our support.
I am sure that we have almost as many bigots as you guys.
But our bigots are too smart to constantly sing sectarian songs (either that or too stupid to realise that the songs are not sectarian)
Plus at Ibrox, it appears as though these songs are being sung by the majority

Why do you keep mentioning Rangers?
I don't think anyone is disputing that Rangers sing songs of a sectarian nature, and I'm sure nobody is disputing they were sung at the recent Old Firm game.
What's that got to do with Celtic fans singing sectarian songs? Or has your argument now changed to "aye but yous are pure worse so you are so that makes us ok"?
What makes you think the majority at ibrox sing these songs?
You know for a "smart support" you're making them look a bit thick.
If you really are a smart support why is your recent record of trouble making significantly worse than rangers.

I agree 100% with all of that.
I would say that we are singing from the same hymn sheet, but you would probably call that sectarian
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You may agree with it but you are an apologist for this behaviour. Hiding under a foil of what pigeon hole should this rancid song go in.
I don't actually care about the songs, but if offensive ones are banned I'm not going to watch my club get pillored for it when we are rock bottom on the grounds that the preachers don't won't Brits in NI so it's political when we offend them.
