What has that got to do with if Celtic fans sing sectarian songs or not????

What discussion do you think we're having at the moment????

My point is that we should not curtail freedom of political expression.

Nobody is disagreeing with that ffs.

However, what we're saying is that you shouldn't try to disguise sectarianism with political expression and that's exactly what you're doing in this thread!

The initial point was that both clubs should be hammered for what happened at Hampden.

You said only Rangers should be because Celtic didn't do any sectarian singing.

We then have had a 300 post discussion about how some aspects of Celtic's behaviour on that day and beyond is clearly sectarian, including having a full discussion about the term hún and how that is in fact a sectarian term.

You're now completely avoiding that and trying to make out this whole thread has only been about the right to political expression.

Mick, I'm utterly exasperated by you on this thread.

You're all over the place on here when the simple question to be answered is: Were Celtic fans singing sectarian songs at Hampden.

Hint: The answer is Yes.

My simple question then is:

Which songs?

Any song with the term hún in it.

I'll stand corrected if this wasn't sung, but the old "cheer up Kenny McDowall" is also sectarian given it contains the line "sad orange bástard".

I should also point out that I don't know your full song book and I've made a point of not knowing the party songs for either side of the Old Firm so I've no idea if that's the limit or if there was more.

You do defend them, by denying that the term Hún is sectarian and trying to make out it's what, political?

When everyone says that it's sectarian, including politicians, law makers, supporters and non-sectarian pressure groups.

You're an apologist for bigots Mick. I just don't think you realise it. Or at least I hope you don't.

So any song with a term which refers solely to Rangers fans and players and has no religious etymology (we could debate this one all day and still not agree, let's just accept that)

Well no, because you use the term hún for Hearts, when nobody else uses it for them, and that's solely because of their perceived (by Celtic fans) links to Protestant and Unionist idelogies.

And to be honest mate, it doesn't matter if you agree or not. It is believed to be sectarian by a number of different groups, including pressure groups who are independent of political groups, and is used in a manner which is, sadly, sectarian.

So yes, that is it. But it's enough.
