I don't believe songs get shouted down anymore or less at ibrox or parkhead.

Lauders

I support the right of the orange walks to go ahead as well, so this has nothing to do with my background as a Celtic fan.

Do you think that rebel songs and orange walks should be banned?

Mick, I don't necessarily disagree that there is a need by some to look like they're being "fair" and "even-handed".

However, that doesn't mean that some of the terms used aren't sectarian. They are and you can't hide from that or brush it under the carpet using the "political" broom.

I'll be honest, I think Rangers fans (generally speaking) are far more explicit and obvious with their sectarianism. For me they often wear it as a badge of honour, as though it's a GIRUY and as an act of defiance against Celtic fans.

However in my own experiences (and remember I've grown up on the East Coast where you don't see sectarianism except on very rare occassions), I find their sectarian feelings and actions generally don't extend to non-Celtic fans.

I have however met Celtic fans (again, not often I might add) who have genuine deep routed distrust of those with Protestant, Unionist leanings and I can certainly tell of experiences where Celtic fans have totally changed their attitude towards someone on finding out they were a mason.

Maybe I judge Catholics harder because I come from that background myself, but in my experiences anti-protestant illwill is more deep routed and genuinely felt from Celtic supporters than genuinely anti-Catholic ill-feeling is felt by Rangers fans. Again though, it's maybe different here than it is over the other side of the country.

Where did I say that our support were smart

I said that they think they are being sectarian and are too dumb to know that they are not.

I've worded that badly.

I don't mean to say that all Celtic fans are Catholics and all Rangers fans Protestant.

Mick

I'm talking about personal experience in that post. I'm not saying I'm right, I'm not saying I'm wrong, it's just what I've seen with my own eyes.

I wanted to make this point earlier but things moved on - you refer to Rangers sectarian signing policy. I think a few rogue Catholics got through but I don't know the ins and outs of this policy so I'm not going to comment.

However, I'm curious as to how long you intend to hold this against Rangers? A club that has had a Catholic captain and plenty of Catholic players.

Should the sins of the father really be held against the son?

And if Celtic are non-denominational, why did Celtic supporters carry a sign saying "Paddy McCourts Fénian Army"? Were only Catholics allowed to be in that group? Why do Celtic fans jokingly refer to themselves as the Pope's XI? Why do Celtic fans make regular references to the club as a Catholic club themselves?

Again however, you're totally dodging the point, as you have throughout this thread, that certain terminologies, particularly hún, are sectarian. And I suspect you'll continue to do so. Which makes all this pretty redundant.
