Becks is one of those players whose overall contribution belies his overall technique; I always think a good measure of a players natural football ability is how they’d fare playing in central midfield. Now some players are just talented players but then you get players who would struggle in central midfield but excel in a position they were born to play and Becks was born to play on the right wing (in his era).
I hated all that nonsense talk of playing Becks in the middle, I just don’t think he was cut out for it and equally I didn’t think it got the best from him. Becks wasn’t ‘world class’ in the sense you’d expect these players to mesmerise you with what they can do on the ball but he was a very effective player and a very specialist one. Beckham had limitations but his delivery was so good it made up for them and he played to his strengths.
I don’t think he’d be as effective in today’s systems but in a 4-4-2 Becks was world class IMO.

All of that.
David Plat said that you either have to be very good at a lot of things or exceptional at one thing to make it.
What he did for the LA Galaxy and MLS should not be discounted by you football snobs. That in addition to his time and performances at utd, real and ac milan should prove he was a world class player and professional.
Beckham
Beckham was a class player
Not a world class footballer but a world class sportsperson.
He was one of the best ENG players but come on he wasn't near the world's best at any time in his career.. he was one of the best at free kicks though
