A team wins the Champions League every season. Something as defining as a treble or an unbeaten season is what the OP is asking, and to answer that, who knows, but i wouldnt put it past a Mourinho side to achieve something as big as that.

I don't think Chelsea fans will care tbh, a title is a title, their fans will remember them fondly, however I think with mourinho you will never get a team which is remembered as a great side with the style he prefers

Depends on how you look at it.

Our back to back title winning teams were as good as any Arsenal or Man U title winning team, records points, fewest goals conceded.

Our last title winners scored more PL than any team before or since.

Other teams supporters are quick to put down our achievements as just another oil money bought success, so we will never get the recognition other teams have.

I can live with that.

To put this into some sort of context, since the Premiership started, I can think of 2 teams that will be forever in the memory of football.

I wouldnt put that Chelsea side forward that would be forever in the memory of football.

I think the side which had the likes of Essien, Lamps, Terry, Drogba and Cech at their peaks will be remembered.

Not in the same context as the Utd or Arsenal teams were, for obvious reasons, but they'll be remembered in a similar vain to the Derby County side in the early 70's or the Wolves side from the 50's.

The 2004- 2006 side was the best side that has thus far been put together since Roman took over

Statistically it is the most successful side to have played in the premiership to date, the record books will last longer than our recollections.

The 2010 side which won the double was a class act.

But undoubtably the side which went on to win the 2012 C/L will be forever remembered as the side which did it against all odds.

From a life long CFC supporter these memories will stand alone for us in the annals of footballing history, much the same as every other clubs achievements will stand out for the supporter

True, probably should have compared them to the Leeds side of 74 really.

The team that set the PL points total, the best PL winners, obviously.

"Chelsea hold the English record for the highest ever points total for a league season (95), the fewest goals conceded during a league season (15), the highest number of Premier League victories in a season (29), the highest number of clean sheets overall in a Premier League season (25) (all set during the 2004–05 season)" .......... only one defeat in the league................. and won the LC as well

Unfortunately, in 30 years time that will be competing with the Utd comeback of '99 and, much as it pains me to say, the even better Liverpool comeback.

I don't think the Chelsea triumph even treads water in comparison, neither does our CL from '08.

It doesn't matter too much because those teams were great and you'll do well to match such levels in the same era but it's funny because deep down Chelsea fans are desperate to be remembered or acknowledge.

They often argue amongst themselves about it or go on to convince all that their style is genius in some way... let's not pretend they weren't all itching to go unbeaten earlier this campaign till it all came crashing down before the halfway point good times.

BTW .......... it isn't over until the points are on the board ............. let's not get ahead of ourselves

You've won the league, you can go ahead and celebrate.

Don't see how the 2012 CL side can be so bigged up it was a definite role of underdogs but for a team of Chelsea's stature and financial strength to have scraped every round and park up the way they did throughout that run was pretty embarrassing to see.

The Barca away game was a good for drama in fairness but let's not speak if that CL win as if it was West Brom just about edging it.

You had £50m Torres, Mata, champions such as Lamps Cole, JT etc... enough quality not to be remembered as the most negative winners in European history

A very well thought out and baiting wum article OP well done.

I reckon the best PL side ever is our 04-05 winning team. Lost less games that year than arsenals "invincibles" the year before.

Also we have most goals scored in a season too.

So i know you was wumming. But I have given you serious answers

I'm sure the same could be said about the 08' Utd side, except to won the CL & the PL, should have been an FA Cup Final too if it weren't for Atkinson (I think, the Pompy game).

I agree with one of the posts earlier, people will remember the Chelsea team of the mid to late 00's, but that there has no defining team that will stand out above the rest in 50 years.

People will talk of the squad players, manager and owner, but they won't talk about the football part of it very often, the thing they did that no-one thought possible.

Premiership might be too difficult now for another unbeaten or treble to come through.

Our team this year will lose less games than the Arsenal team of 2003/04 as well.
