How many mistakes does it take?

Agree with most of this, but can't really blame anyone for Suarez going or Sturridge being injury prone (it's not like he's been rushed back like we did with Torres).

Oh and whilst we didn't need to buy Marko, i still think he might make it, although it will take time

Surely you address your main priorities first.

If you can't replace Luis - don't sell him! Barca don't exactly seem to have suffered in terms of image by having him

If you need to sort out the spine of the team why buy Markovic and Adam Lallana. You already have Phillipe and Raheem. No wonder Raheem is looking at this and wondering why he's playing right wing back!

People have been convinced that you need 2 teams in much the same way that everyone is convinced that finishing 4th is actually good. It would barely have raised a ripple before the CL came in. The game is about winning things!

It's like BR needs a 'manager' to reign him in a bit and inject a dose of reality at times as yes he does seem to be a good coach but we are in serious danger of having the blind faith that Arsene has in his players

We'll have wasted many many millions before some of these move on. The average man in the street can see some of these things yet we have a team of people earning millions to actually achieve so far 'nothing'

Times have changed at Liverpool.

Top players like Suarez would never have been allowed to leave, and other top players should be signed to bolster the push for trophies.

We had CL football. We had Suarez we had a whole load of excellent footballers coming through the ranks. We just needed a few established top quality players to progress. We brought none at all and let Suarez go with predictable consequences.

FSG need to throw this stupid wage structure in the dustbin. We have two more players dithering over new contracts in Sterling and Hendo and it limits our ability to sign the type of player who will keep us challenging for trophies.

There is extra revenue coming this season the time has come to use it and stop trying to make good on players like Balotelli at bargain prices.

Serious investment is needed in the right areas. We need a solid team to give our ball players license to play.

We could literally get rid of 10 of these high earning 'squad' players and no one would notice

top class article

I want balotelli to stay on though....theres obvious talent there ..

but everything else I agree with ..especially lovren and lallana @ 45 million pound

that is just money flushed down the tube

Lovren makes me want to cry. It was well know before he arrived he gave the ball away on a regular basis. The OPTA stats had him down as one of the worst in the league for turnovers. And that's exactly what's he's carried on doing since he arrived here.

Spot on OP

I have made all these points over the last year and was shot down in flames on many an occasion

I am glad there are still some people on here that talk some sense and don't bury their head in the sand when discussing the manager's failings

10/10 for observation

This is not a knee jerk reaction...this is a very realistic post

We know he wanted to leave, but also keeping him any longer was an absolutely enormous risk. He'd just been banned for 4 months following a 3rd biting incident, so clearly not learning (it's obviously an impulsive thing).

One more biting incident could mean a year or two year ban. Not only would we lose a world class player, he loses all value. Barca can afford that risk, they have Messi and Neymar. Just a shame we spent the money poorly

Just heard Henderson has signed a 5 year contract
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Great. Just need Joe Allen to sign a new contract and we will have 7th place guaranteed for 5 years.

Henderson was a world beater according to you fickle lot half a season ago and his suspension was probably the main reason we didn't win the league last season.

Moreno has been quality for large parts of this season as a young foreign player in his first PL season, Markovic has barely turned 20, Lallana has been very very good and Can like Markovic has pure raw potential.

Yes Balotelli was a bad signing, Lovren hasn't worked out and Lambert was pointless as he never plays but just because we've hit 4 or 5 games of bad form does not mean every player we have is rubbish.

I can't remember Lallana being very good in many games except Swansea at home.

Markovic is not an upgrade on Ibe, as is the case with Manquillo and Wisdom

Agree totally.

Brendan is a good coach but makes terrible signings.

Not good enough

I hope BR is given a chance to improve things. It really needs him to have a good start to next season.

In keeping with the great LFC managers of the past he could also learn to provide less soundbites to the media.

During this season we had too many things going wrong at the same time. Let's hope the break will enable BR to get things right for next season.

Too many of your fans are overreacting. You have reached 2 domestic cup semis & if u had beat united at home you would be a sure bet for top 4. Just unlucky moments at crucial periods. These things happen to young managers.

The FA cup result was disappointing but u were playing a premier league team in form. Bo guarantees when you get to this stage of the competition. We basically scratched through the semis & final last season.

Other than Joe Allen who is a squad player at best & maybe Lovren all the players you signed are good enough including Mario.

Players take time to acclimatize to the demands of a new league & big club. See Ozil & Di Maria! All played for a top aide in Europe but struggled. See Falcao. Sancheź is the only player in recent season to hit the ground running but even then his overall game still needs to improve. It's just that individually he is a force of nature. The other big money signings are more reliant on team player.

Markovic is a clever player as is Lallana. Can has been great & Mario has been made a scapegoat for your season as he is also needed a bit of time which he doesn't seem to be able to get. Look at it this way, Mario has been way better than Falcao but sadly his off field reputation gets in the way of the facts.

Lovren is a disaster though. I was surprised when people blamed BR for starting Toure in the game against Arsenal which was 100% the right call. You only had to watch the cup quarterfinal game against Blackburn to see Toure dominate Lovren & realise who the better defender is.

Moreno is a good young player who will improve. It's not like there are many left backs lighting it up. Look at Shaw, Clichy, Gibbs. All calamitous.

You are just in a competitive league hence it appears you have failed to progress but you have progressed. All the young players will improve & you will get better.

Apparently it would cost is somewhere in the region of 20 million to get rid of BR and bring in a replacement!

Aggs.

In other words, the same amount we wasted on Lovren.

Being way too harsh on the likes of Moreno and Markovic, both these guys are still 20 ffs and they are in there 1st season in the PL.

If they are still trash after 18-24 month then yes call them a failure.
You should never judge a player from abroad in there 1st season and sometimes they just take a season to adapt.

Also why you lost so harsh on Balotelli hes hardly plays for you guys, how many games has he started this year and hes still the guy everyone blames when you loose.

Shortlight

Lovren

FSG will be very reluctant to sever ties with Brendan on that info. Might be best but the problem of making sub standard signings needs to be addressed before any more moneys made available.

Big TV money is coming in we need to make sure we get the no1 targets wage wise give the right signings what they want

Boss

Should Liverpool be a sandbox club for young players like Moreno to foul up and learn? Not to my mind, he's made far too many errors to be pulling on the red shirt.

The only problem i see with Moreno is that he starting ever single game, he should be the backup imo learning his trade anit like Bellerin at Arsenal.

(Bellerin only playing due to injuries and only really started playing in 2015)
