Mark , if you think Utd haven't paid out 800m in interest since the glazers took over then you clearly know very little about the club you say you support

I'm sure CFC is not the only club who are valued at a lower value than the owners have invested, it is part of the responsibility.

---------------------------------------------

How many more are there? City? Sunderland, Villa maybe? Not sure these would come under 'well run' clubs over the past 10 years?

You said united's fans have paid out £800m
Can you prove this please?
If not, I'll not be able to take any of you comments seriously from now on unfortunately

United seem to bring through the most premier league quality players but it's been a couple of decades since a properly class player has come through

so it is a very good programme, but the perception of it seems to still be linked to the class of 92 for some unknown reason.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll give you that, equally, it's fair to say the only "very good" players to have come through the ranks in English football over the last decade is Wayne Rooney.

Lots of false promise in players like SWP, Barkley, Bentley ect, but none have really gone on to very good things.

Academy wise, Chelsea and City are dominating the younger age groups now, to the extent that some of the United players sons go to the city academy.

It takes a long time to come through though and Uniteds use of it has stood the test of time very very well.

Let`s be fair modern football is shiiite nowadays, the richest clubs rule the roost. Man United are no better than either Chelsea or City, spunking money in the pursuit of glory. Football is now a busted flush in my book.

Southampton have to be a very well run club. Just won the under 21 cup the other day and have a very good stadium as well as the best youth program in the country.

Seems pointless Spurs building a new ground to open up bigger revenue streams.

Mark ,

Put up an article on the united board and I'm certain you will be educated by some of the real followers of the club you claim to support and you will get the interest figure.

I think for at least 8 seasons you were paying 62m per season 496m and then for the last 3 seasons your paying 42m = 126 + 496 = 620m and counting.

Like i have said ask any truly clued utd supporter and they will feel you about the interest payments

So to be clear in FACT United have paid out £ 620m since the Glazers took over and not 800m as i had earlier stated.

Are they not massively in hock to their benefactor that bankrolled them up the leagues?

Doing well the past couple of seasons, yes. Unfortunately the need for success at both clubs means they will never get the chance.

Reserve football is the really important one, not often do players go from youth football into first team football.

RE: southampton

I think people are looking at recent results and thinking because they've done well in the league that they must be well run

I think they're an shambles and riding they're luck that they'll just keep 'getting it right' everytime they reshuffle.

I do like them though. They're a great story.

As a supporter you would be highly delighted today at Southampton , but at the end of July last summer you would have been in bits for sure, but it is a good story!

Southampton are a story that couldn't happen now as the investment that it took to get them up the league wouldn't be allowed with FFP.

With the TV money coming in as well though, they will be self sufficient.

They're a prime example of why curtailing investment can be a negative thing as well as a positive one.

Kaisers, they have been well run for a while. Their youth system has to be one of the best systems in recent history - maybe even better than the West Ham one and they are very financially solvent.

They spent £76 million on 8 players and sold £109 million worth of players to make their squad better than it ever was.

This summer they will most probably sell Clyne and Schneiderlin bringing in around £50 million and they have the replacements already in the squad.

Nothing shambolic about it.

Probably. I never wanted a new stadium, cannot see the point? All it will attract is the prawwnies like United, Chelsea and Arsenal have. Football is completely lost to older supporters like me now. I hate the modern stadiums, and most of the supporters that sit in them look and act like stuffed dummies.

I read somewhere that Southampton have the largest area from with they're allowed to bring in youth players, in England.
