Really? Mata joined halfway through. Di Maria signed this season. Rooney and De Gea were there last season granted but Herrera would walk into our midfield.
Don't forget Falcao, Shaw and Rojo
Utter shíte but have delivered more goals and assists than ours by virtue of being individually very gifted.
***
In the context of this article I think they scored more goals and assists by virtue of their manager knowing what he is doing. We also have quality players who managed to do next to nothing all season, why?
They also conceded less than us with a back four of academy graduates. I dont think they have more quality than us in defence and if they do then how did that happen considering all the money we have spent on the defence?
Their key players have been De Gea, Carrick and Rooney, Fellaini and Young.
Herrera has had a good first season and Mata has shown some recent form.
None of the other new players have been key to them finishing top 4.
Not key no but neither have ours and whichever way you slice it the ones listed are better at football.
Yes. De Gea better than Mig who was signed by Rodgers. Rodgers has had 3 years Rob, and over 200m but the likes of Young, Fellaini, Carrick are still better players?
Yes but they haven't played well.
We would have finished above them had we bought more sensibly and not been managed badly.
LVG has done no more than a decent job.
They are better than they were last season but not by a huge margin. Just a lot more competitive in the big games.

I agree but like I said you can be damned sure Rodgers wanted Sanchez.
Now I'm on record slating the wage structure. Righteous, arguably rightly, said that we shouldn't break the wage structure for him. I don't agree with that myself.
Either way the club didn't so we don't get as good a quality player. It's about players.
You can't polish a túrd. Sure, you can sprinkle glitter on it and Brendan has at times, but afford him better players then we'll get more points regardless of his managerial talents.
You don't think Brendan could have done a better job this season with what he has?
I don't think he has got the maximum out of our squad at all, particularly the strikers.
You don't think he warrants any criticism for his part in spending £210m and not having much tangible to show for it?
If you look at Borini, Lambert and Balotelli they are all double figures men in the Prem at their best.
They have about 6 goals between them.
Rodgers simply has to take a large share of the blame for that, regardless of whether he wanted better players.
His job is to get the best out of what he has.
In addition to that, we did not lose out on Sanchez due to the wage structure or finances. He chose to join Arsenal for other reasons which are well documented. Rodgers knew we had such shortcomings when he joined us. He knew what the job would be like. In fact, he was charged with the duty to change that and clearly he has not.
Basically, you cant be successful without big players, but big players wont join you if you aren't successful. Having considered that you cant attract top players, you have to capitalise when the teams who can have a bad season. Otherwise you risk being stuck in a cycle of not succeeding because you dont have top players and not having top players because you are not successful.
Exactly.
We need a manager who gets the most out of what he has, exceeding where we should be based on pure finances.
He has done that in 1 season out of 3 so far.
FSG might find that acceptable to give him next season too but if they didn't then I don't think he can have too many complaints to be honest.
Not when a manager like Klopp who actually wins to trophies on a much smaller budget for fees and wages is available.
What would Klopp have done with £210m? We will never know, but he never had that sort of money at Dortmund that's for sure.

United have been mediocre for most of the season.
We should have finished above them IMO.
Yes they have spent a lot of money but when you look at their actual performances, likely points total despite no cup football and how badly they started the season I really can't see why as a club we couldn't have finished above them.
A combination of bad management and bad signings set us behind them, not because they spent more money and overtook us with a style and quality that we couldn't possibly compete with.
We took advantage of their instability without Ferguson for 1 season only, and that is a big failure of the club IMO.
We missed the chance to really give ourselves a chance of regular top 4 position.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
can't disagree there... a missed opportunity that won't come around again until LVG leaves.

I don't think he deserves to lose his job over it no. I don't think he'd be any better or worse manager if he had 9 more points due to having better players and being 2nd.
I feel we have the fifth best squad and with it being shot of strikers it shows.
In addition to that, we did not lose out on Sanchez due to the wage structure or finances. He chose to join Arsenal for other reasons which are well documented

I think give him Suarez's wage he would gave told his wife to shut it.
Suarez's wage was made up of bonuses. That's why he was playing like a man possessed.
I feel we have the fifth best squad and with it being shot of strikers it shows.
---
What if we finish 7th?
Then I'll put it down to fine lines. It is a fine football - funny old game.
You're only as good as your strikers. It needs sorting.
We have no world class players though. None. The teams above us do. There needs to be improvement and apologies for repeating myself but managers get too much credit when things go well and too much grief when things go badly.
It's a fine football? Dunno what happened there!
Rodgers has signed 5 strikers since he came to the club already though.
If you are only as good as your strikers then surely it's his own fault that he keeps signing duds.
He has spent around £50m on strikers by my reckoning.
You can't blame FSG.
He new all about Borini and still thought he was good enough.
Actually forgot Origi, so it will be 6 strikers and £60m.
Then he wants to sign another top striker this summer, so that's going to be 7 strikers and at least £70m by the end of this summer.
Hoody thats my beef. Having spent all we have spent and 3 years into Rodgers reign, our strikers are still not good enough, needs sorting and no world class signings.
Is that him? I see it as a collective personally.
Let's face it we've píssed money up the wall for decades so this is a club problem.
I want to be sure that he's not the right man and atm I'm not. I feel it puts it into perspective that it's highly likely that if we'd got 30 starts out if Sturridge we'd comfortably be in the top four.
Does that then make him a good manager?
Maybe.
The fact he can't get 10 goals out of Borini, Lambert and Balotelli, all players he signed, gets him in serious consideration of being a bad one though. Or rather the fact he is hasn't even TRIED to get the best out of them really.
Look at Southamptons strikers. Pelle, Long, out injured all year Rodriguez and dud Mayuka.
Is that any better than our forward line?
Spurs have Kane, mega flop Soldado and Adebayor who nobody wants, is that better than ours?
We have spent a lot more money than those two teams since Rodgers took over, and they have been a lot more unstable too with various managers each.
Yet here we are as good (or bad) as them.
Rodgers is as culpable as anyone else on the committee for signing average players AND he is more culpable than anyone for then not getting those average players to even play at their best form.
