Lamela is still highly regarded in Italy so we should be able to recoup at least £20m. I still think there's a very good player in there, he just doesn't suit the PL.
I'd have no qualms offloading Lennon too...ok, he's done well at Everton but he's an injury waiting to happen.
Don,
Wouldn't improve nothing mate. Lennon a tried and tested formula and he's not good enough anymore. A couple of above average games for everton hardly going to convince anyone. He's currently at his level playing for a side that's battling in midtable
=====================
Ings and Austin are battling against relegation but i'd take either of them in a heartbeat..
And for the record, i would also take Baines, Jagielka, Stones, Mirallas, Barley or Lukaku from Everton regardless of where they are in the league - wouldnt you?
Spurtle2
Then get annoyed when Lamela starts doing well for his new club, and Lennon goes back to normal.
===================
Not at all. I wish Lamela well but he is not suited to our league so no point keeping him just because he may perform well somewhere else on the continent.
^ Barkley - not Barley...

I wouldn't keep him because he's sucked very hard for us. It would be annoying though to see him go on to be a special player if we let him go, but that's the Spurs way I suppose.
BTW Barkley has been about as disappointing as Lamela this season.

Barkley was injured for a large part - and I agree he hasn't pushed on as much as I thought he might - but his performances still dwarf Lamela's.
I know Levy has now come out with this £15-£20m transfer policy but I would definitely like us to table say, a £25m bid for Barkley. Strike whilst the performances have been relatively low - but that boy has bags of potential.
Or am I just being naive about our chances of getting him for that much?

Massively agree. I would love him in the middle for us alongside Bentaleb.
Not sure we'd get him for under 30m though, he's English and young, adds 10m to his value.
Chicken, in no way shape or form am i saying Lamela has been good but he is better and more talented than townsend that is for sure. Lennon is not the same player he was 4 years ago mate so I think we need to take a step back for a second and look at all the bad seasons he has had at Spurs in recent years. We can't just discount Lamela after 1 season. I say 1 season because the 1st season we bought him he was injured for most of it so this really is his 1st proper season. He's been disappointing with the odd flashes of brilliance. You already made your mind up on Lamela long ago though just like you did AVB
NotSo,
Massively agree.
=================
I actually thought I’d get ridiculously shot down for that comment as well .
Phew .
Yes you are Chicken. He was touted as being a £50m player when he was linked to Chelsea and City earlier on in the season, however £25 would be a more fitting value.
And again I'd have to disagree that he's dwarfed Lamela's performances. They've been about as poor as one another. They're kind of similar in that they have lots of potential but make runs into blind alleys and have generally poor decision making...at least based on this season.

ha! No I think he's a brilliant player. Only problem is that we have Dele Alli and Pritchard coming through, and Mason... getting congested again in the middle. I don't know enough about Alli and Pritchard to know how close they are to first team level, but I still think Barkley would be fantastic for us.
Don,
You already made your mind up on Lamela long ago though just like you did AVB
==========================
No Don, I simply judge as I find - and not by any enhanced reputations they may have got from a foreign league, youtube clips or hearsay (like some).
Lamela has never produced - even though you promised us you knew better - so don’t start trying to turn this round on me.
AVB ruined Chelsea for a season, tried to end the careers of JT and Lampard 2 season too early, and played negative tactics - that’s how I came to judge AVB before he joined.

Very true...i hadn't thought about that...
even though you promised us you knew better - so don’t start trying to turn this round on me.
Your a strange character mate im not turning it around on anyone. It was well documented on here you had it in for AVB the moment he joined anything he did clouded your judgement hence it being impossible for you to say anything positive towards him. Same goes for Lamela who straight away you were pretty much on his case. Funny how you say Lamela isn't producing ( which I agree) but seem to think lennon and Townsend are somewhat better. Like I said 1 season isn't enough to judge a new player adapting to the league considering his 1st season was full of injuries. Yes he's better than lennon and townsend

I have to say I would rather have Lennon in the team over Lamela. Townsend as well, but not so much.
The thing with Lennon is that while he does disappoint with his performances sometimes, he is excellent for the shape of the team. Even when his cross doesn't get past the first man, the fact that he's out on the right stretches the pitch and makes room for others. (I do appreciate that he has played more centrally for Everton).
Barkley is another player that has one good game in half a dozen. No way should Spurs be contemplating spending £25 million on players like him. I doubt Levy will be sanctioning any big spending anyway for many, many years anyway, and frankly I don't blame him. It is up to Poch to get the best our of what he has, and to buy frugally.
Next season should be all about targeting the cups, Top four can go do one as far as I am concerned.
Even allowing for how bad Lamela has been, he has still contributed more than Lennon did in his last two or three seasons at Spurs. Lennon had been shocking for the best part of his last two seasons with Spurs. He needed a change, and I would bite Everton's hand off of they offerd £5 million plus for him.
Don,
Your a strange character mate im not turning it around on anyone. It was well documented on here you had it in for AVB the moment he joined
=====================
… I don’t care where it was documented, I have said all along I simply judged AVB on what I personally witnessed firsthand (his Chelsea experience right through to the day he was sacked at Spurs). I don’t see what is so wrong with this. And I would always recommend you be the judge of your own opinion, don’t form an opinion because someone else told you, because of something you heard, or because of an achievement at a different club, in a different league. The same goes for Lamela. I didn’t think of him as a £30m superstar who was above all and sundry on day 1. To me he was just another signing who I wanted to do well. The same as Chadli, Eriksen, Chiriches and all the rest. There is no pecking order based on hearsay in my “strange” world.
As for your comments that I haven’t criticised Lennon or Townsend, you may want to read back a post or 3, as I have also condemned their inconsistent performances too – it’s just I feel they produce on a more frequent basis than Lamela. Strange or not – that is what I see with my own eyes – and so that is how I (rightly or wrongly) have judged it. There are no agendas here fella, just say what you see .
I would keep him until he makes it!
He actually has quite a few assists and could be a star!
He will be a eye opener next season. You read it here.
I would keep him, he is still only just 23 years old and is slowly improving, I can remember cries for Bale and Kane to be sold because they were not performing, and look what has happened with those two.
Was our best player against the Saints. Well at least the 1st half. Give him rest of the srason and maybe 1st half of next because right now we be lucky to get half of what we paid for him.
One of the few players beside Eriksen who could pick a decent pass in the attacking third. Just needs to sort out other aspects of his game. Think there is a little hope for him still.
Probably end up going to Juventus
