Its like Labour didnt want to win.

1st they have brain dead Ed as leader, then run the worst election campaign but a opposition party since Neil Kinnock's labour.

Privatisation really grinds my gears but you can't honestly believe that the Tories have done anything other than a sound job over the last few years. The economy was on the brink of failure under Gordon Brown.

Now is not the time to change things!

Gordon brown wasnt great and had many flaws but it is a bit harsh to put the bad economy state down to him when you know that 1 year after being elected, the credit crush happened.
2-3 years after being elected, the tories message was still the same: They were cleaning up the mess left by labour.
I wonder what it is gonna be this time? Blaming the lib dem?

Disgusting result. The country is full of a bunch of uneducated morons, who take what Murdoch's empire says as gospel. Racism and xenophobia has led to what will be a disgusting far right government. I am truly sickened by this country right now.

True, there was a point 18-24 months ago when it looked like they could have won an election under Fred West, so to (ed) balls it up from there was some achievement.

At least one country rejected austerity.

The Scots - the only country that cares.

Bookies have him to resign today apparently. Should have done it about a year ago IMO.

i guess it's like a football club 2 points clear of relegation with 10 games to go, you don't want to hit the panic button, but you know there is a chance you will go down under the current guy.

unfortunately they stuck with him and he turned out to be john carver.

The unions killed Labour when they put the wrong Miliand in charge. The idiot should never have stood against his far more electable brother.

Maf

Scotland voted for the only left of centre party on the ballot sheet.

We voted for social democracy, an end to austerity and progressive politics.

England voted for austerity.

Don't blame us.

How are you going to do that with 50 odd seats. Tories form the govt with outright majority.

Labour effed up having clown of Ed as a leader. Collation Government was okay, as Tory was on leash with all their cuts but now...

Mililpeed just has a face you want to punch, everytime he speak in public its like his speech has been written for him.

Maf, if we had voted 59 Labour MP's we'd still have had a Tory government.

We voted for the party that best fits our beliefs. That is no longer the Labour Party. To again quote Jimmy Reid, I didn't leave the Labour Party, the Labour Party left me.

What we hoped for was a minority Labour Party which would be forced to put progressive, left of centre, anti-austerity measures in place because it would have relied on SNP support.

We didn't trust them to put these kind of policies forward on their own.

It seems the English didn't want them to put forward these kind of policies full stop.

Labour borrowing was out of control, they had their own banking-style crisis, spend your way to success. That was a complete disaster waiting to happen!

Lib Dems have done well in the coalition, forced a bit of balance into the government. Hopefully that won't cause problems now they aren't there!

Mainland UK voters can be thankful they do not live in Northern Ireland.

We have just voted in as our largest party, a crowd of right wing, intolerant, homophobic, bigoted, bible thumpers!

I don't think people realise that the cuts haven't actually started yet...

They tried to do it in 2010-12 and the economy tanked.

posted on 8/5/15

Ivan, that's true though.

English voters are influenced by the lies of Murdoch media. At least in the last term Libdems prevented severe cuts. Now, who will stop them.

It's bittersweet for those who voted SNP up here.

Delighted that we've battered Labour up here. They deserved it for the way they've abandoned us.

Gutted that we're facing 5 years of the Tories.

The EU is now critical for the future of the Union. If England pulls us out of it, against the Scottish will, we'll be gone.

posted on 8/5/15

Would Tories pull England(UK) out of the EU at the expense of big bankers and corporations? Not going to happen in million years.

Ed Miliband resigned.
