Good point well made SAF. The other SAF had 3 years and near failure before it clicked.

Do you think we should be finishing above Chelsea, City, Utd & Arsenal?

All much bigger teams with huge revenues of money coming in compared to us.

I actually think we are boxing above our weight Hengy so a good job all in all.

Shortback

I think we are exactly where we should be between 5th and 7th.

Especially as we've done it with one of the youngest used squads in Europe.

Hopefully we put in a few more good performances to get 5th.

Tbh the other team above you Liverpool has spent huge amounts as well, the only team you might finish below whose budget doesn't blow you out the water is Southampton's and you would say their managr has done an incredible job.

Why not, Spurs have finished above all of those clubs bar Arsenal in recent memory. So to say they cannot is basically saying that Spurs will never again get to top four, so may as well just pack it in. Even last season they finished above United.

Spurs are batting from a position of somewhere aroundabout 5th/6th/7th, so not unreasonable with a bit of decent management to not be able to go the next step.

Even this season half a dozen points of Palace, West Ham, WBA and Villa at home would have given them a chance.

The top clubs may have an absolute advantage over Spurs of huge revenues, but frankly they are not hugely out of sight playing wise, Spurs showed they are more than capable of beating both Chelsea and Arsenal, even last week against City they were unlucky not to win that game.

To say they cannot ever compete with the top teams is absolute defeatist. Whilst I agree the modern game is about money when it comes to winning trophies, it should still not stop Spurs from competing.

Good post sandy

Whilst i agree we CAN beat those teams in one of matches we cannot beat them for form over a 38 game period as our squad is inferior to them bar an anomaly like United last season.

While catching and over taking these teams should be our aim it shouldn't take away that we have had a decent season this year overall.

The big question is can we build on this season and bridge the gap against those teams year on year

We simply lack consistency. Get that, even if it only secures a 5 or 6th place finish we know we should be able to build on it.

spurs have never had consistency. that is why we are traditionally a cup team.

our league record over the years is just a bit of a joke to be honest.

its a bit of a shambles to be honest.

in our 135 ish years of existence, how many properly good league sides have we had? 10? maybe 12?

its a joke.

2 titles. what is it, 4 runners up medals? nonsense.

Chronic, how are things at Spurs lately? LOL

Team selection's are a bit conservative at times but only to be expected from a still young and relatively green manager, his new approach has led to a liberal sprinkling of youth throughout the team although his early labours in persevering with Ade were ultimately shown to be a complete Milliband.

Poch's clearly gone balls out to achieve his best with positive early results on the left wing, right wing and even at times in the centre ground.

A work in progress, give him five more years

Anything over 5 is bias rubbish.

Time for people just to admit they were wrong about him. Starting with Levy

I'd honestly mark him down after today. Gave him a 6.5 and would drop that to a 6 after perhaps our worst result of the season.

so arsey. at the start of the season what were your expectations? if you were part of the 5th - 7th and a cup run… then how can you say poch has performed below par?

thats how i reasoned it… par is a 7 in my books.. this season has been par.. nothing more, nothing less.

had he gone below expectations he would have a 6 or a 5 from me….

if we had gone above expectations, maybe a top 4, he would have a 8 or 9 ….

sounds fair to me.

I don't believe for a second I would have said 7th was acceptable. I probably said 5th would be fine.

I don't think we will get that.

It's not just the table though. The performances are now very, very worrying. Worse than AVB.

Thats exactly how I feel as well, a lucky cup run and a dreadful showing in the final do not convince me one little bit.

chronic let me put a totally hypothetical idea to you ok.

You dont miss a game all season and we have signed a new striker say his name is John Smith.

John Smith scores once every game in the premier league but misses 8 easy chances every game including 8 penalties.

Thise missed easy chances cost us countless points but John Smith has actually scored 38 goals in the prem this season.

He would win the golden boot and be the highest prem scorer ever in a single season.

Would that make him a great striker even tho he missed at least 8 easy chances every game and a number of penalties?

When somebody who did not watch every game told you what a great striker he was because of his 38 goals being a record would you agree with him having seen him MISS 8 easy chances a game and a number of penalties

Or would you say "I have seen every game and he is rubbish he needs 9 chances to score once"?

Thats what stats do there is nothing like your own eyes for making a decision and in a weak premier league we were still poor for 90% of it and I dont care where we finished in the league thats the facts of the matter

As I said earlier anything above a 5 is to much for what I have seen this season and one or tow decent performances wont change my mind
