He got caught by the Loldado virus.
Our season isn't over yet
What I find funny is that Walcott has come into the team only fairly recently and has already outscored him.
He's an average finisher and always has been. Useful stop-gap when Giroud was injured but I hope Wenger doesn't use him as an excuse not to buy a high-quality centre forward. I would love Wenger to prove me wrong but I just don't see him turning into a top striker, he lacks the requisite composure and ability.
well theo is a goal scorer and er danny isn't.
He is useful to have in your squad but the black Thierry henry he is not.
hopefully a winners medal will show he made a good contribution though
Welbeck has had a decent enough season when he's played.
Give him a full pre-season with Wenger and he'll be better next year. Remember, he's joined you from a United side who mismanaged him for the previous 2 years.
Knocked united out of the fa cup at old trafford and 2 footed cesc, all in all a good season.
tbf he's been playing out wide and wenger seems to prefer him over ox / theo so he'll get games. decent player, does a job, happy to be second choice and a lot better than the back up strikers we've recently had

Wouldn't put the blame on United, I think it's just the way he is.
Have some confidence he might still develop (agree with renoog that a significant boost of composure and technique is needed. I wouldn't write him off just yet.

He's 24 now and will be 25 soon into next season, and we're still talking about him needing a boost of composure. That was levelled at him 3/4 years ago. I don't think it's ever going to happen for him.
Remind me how much Soldado cost and how many goals he has scored

He scored more goals than Welbeck in their first seasons for their clubs.
Lets not forget you paid £20m for Welbeck who has scored a couple more goals.
We paid nothing for Kane and he has almost scored 4x as many as Welbeck this season.

24 is not the end of everybody's learning curve.
I'd give him at least another season.

Then what exactly do you expect from him? I'd be very surprised if he gets 15 in a season in this league.

It should be well on the way to being the start of it though. He's had 7 seasons in the PL so far and this has been his second worst for goalscoring.
That was my reaction when Arsenal first signed Welbeck as well!
Liverpool signed Sturridge for £15m. Arsenal signed Welbeck for £20m.
