He’s like Neo with all the computer monitors set up around him. 7 movies going at ones. Numbers and equations floating around in his head to solve the mystery of the list. Then after every movie this happens…

Maybe he got a movie version of DJ’s football monitoring dungeon set up. 35 tvs surrounding a chair.
This is Britain's first ever talkie.
Hitchcock absolutely nails it.

Just watching back to back all day.
I'd already selected the films from the criterion collection list.
What’s your criteria for scoring? A film is like a meal. Sometimes you can indulge but generally one needs a break to be able to fully appreciate the next meal. It makes me think you’re only getting surface level enjoyment from whatever you’re watching.

I can understand that point of view.
My scores aren't cast in stone. For instance I've been over the order of my list loads of times, and that involves having a refresher of the films (doing that again today). Most of the films in my list I've seen more than once.
The feeling I have at the end of a movie the first time I watch it though does stay with me and I give it considerable weight.
I personally rarely find the need to think about a movie substantially after I've watched it (I know that many people regularly do). One yesterday was The Double Life of Veronique, where I did take some time to reflect on what I'd watched afterwards. But once I'd done that I was fine with how I felt about it.

Fair enough I suppose. I guess I’m just trying to get a feel for what you’re looking at in a film. I believe you had formed your opinion on a few films after watching like 15 mins or something.
Are you going for purely technical ability?
Acting?
Storytelling?
Plot?
Atmosphere/ambience?
Soundtrack?
Direction?
Cinematography?
Lighting?
Editing?
Age?

Oh yeah, that's fair I can give up on films after 15 minutes, or even 5 minutes.
Some examples from the recent 54:
Crazed Fruit (1956)
Roma (1972)
In the Realm of the Senses (1976)
One Night in Miami (2020)
I think with each of these within 5 minutes I've thought there's no way this is making it. Then I've skipped forward a couple of times to check, and still of the same view so I just can it.
Sometimes I get through 90 minutes of a 2 hour film and give up on it. Some examples from the 54 films:
3 Women (1977)
El Sur (1983)
Perfect Days (2024)
Once I know it's not making my list I very rarely continue with a film. If I didn't do that I would never have found/experienced so many great films as I have.
In fact there are films I've disregarded without watching even a second of them! They just never made my viewing list.
I suppose at the end of the day I see it as a %age game. What is the value in me spending time or further time on this movie?
I think yours is a good list of attributes. I recently answered a similar question by reference to the following qualities:
-Lighting/use of light, visual composition, sound
-Pace, tempo
-Whether your interest is drawn and maintained; engagement
-charm, intelligence
-imagination, originality, surprise
-technical innovation
-Hitting emotional spots is a good bonus
-not undermined by poor acting
Yes I definitely take the age/period of the film into account.

Yo Bill, Anatomy of a Murder… I started it.
Realised it’s a bonkers long film and no CGI.
Great cast though…
So… is it in the mode of 12 Angry Men?

Couldn't find it. It's still there in my to watch list along with some Louis Malle documentary about India.
OH, SORRY ANATOMY OF MURDER

I thought you meant anatomy of a fall, which was on my to watch list and is still on my to watch list!!
It is a long film indeed. But you don't feel it.
It goes along at a cracking pace and tempo.
I dunno man, give it a go
It's not a difficult film. I can't imagine many people not liking it. Attitudes to women are very dated, but if you can get over that it's a great watch. Gripping.
