James Milner is a great signing on a free! Don't think many can really argue with that, £110,000 a week is a lot but that'll be because there's no fee.
Bogdan, he's coming in as back up goalie ffs. Would we all like Cech, yes but we're not getting him so a free signing as back up who's better than Brad Jones makes sense.
Ings, regarded by many as one of the country's talented youngsters around and for the £4m - £5m fee that if he doesn't make it here we can make a small profit on him. All the while he's better than Borini, Lambert and Balotelli.
We need a striker that's possibly going to cost £30m and we also need a rightback and centre mid.

He started as reserve but Lennon restored him and he was actually wanted by a few German clubs in jan I read yesterday. Jones was awful and I'd like to have seen I new number one brought in but with more pressing concerns like striker, rightback and centre mids. Keeping a keeper that missed the golden gloves by one clean sheet isn't a bad option.

Not being funny but you signed a replacement for DDG on a free and yes he's was a lot better but who knows what he'll be like after his knee injury.
Bogdan is replacing jones and he's younger and I think better and he's free.
We need a backup so when Mig has his yips again can step in. He played 10 championship games last season of which 4 was at the beginning of the season. He only got his spot back because the then number one Lonergan was out injured.

Someone like Myhill or Hennesey who are good number 2s would jump at the chance to join us. Much better keepers who have good prem experience and will do a good job for us in EL games.
Arsenal will sign Cech so you can have either Szcz or Martinez on loan.

Don't know tbh, I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on back up keepers. I'm hoping Mig doesn't need to be dropped, his form over the second half of the season suggests that this could be the case.
Thing is, I don't see the signing of a reserve keeper as high up on our priorities as some, and would rather resources be concentrated on other areas. Some people wanted Cech, can you imagine the salary he would want?

Yes, far better. He's played loads of first team games and the season Bolton went down, people were saying we should sign him. Jones was never a first team keeper anywhere. He was Boro's third keeper. Woeful signing from Hodgson.

I think there is some truth in this but also the fact that the owners need to fund the new development and despite all their waffle it would appear that it's coming directly from the club not them. That's a good thing but they did say that investment in the squad would not be affected but it seems it it going to be.
I think the new tv deal has led your owners to realize they will make big money whether LFC are successful or mid-table so why speculate when you will accumulate anyway.
The money form cl is not as important now as the new tv deal dwarfs that even.
Maybe when the stadium is finished they will release the purse strings again......although you could be some considerable distance behind the top 4 by then. More so than now.
