Euro 2000 was the best
That Dutch team was magic
OP,
Italia 90 might have the lowest scoring among all WC, but it was one of the few WC that had star and classic player(s) on many teams. For Instance:
Italy - Baresi, Schillaci, Baggio, Maldini
Argentina - Maradona, Caniggia, Goycochea, Burruchaga
Cameroon - Roger Milla
Romania - Hagi
Soviet - Dasayev
Brazil - Taffarel, Dunga, Careca, Bebeto, Romario
Columbia - Valderrama, Rincon
(West)Germany - Matthaus, Brehme, Klinsmann, Voller, Hassler... on and on
Yugoslavia - Stojkovic, Prosinecki
Belgium - Scifo, Preud'homme
Spain - Hierro, Michel, Butragueno
Uraguay - Francescoli, fonseca
England - Lineker, Platt, Gazza
Holland - Gullit, Van Basten, Rijkaard
Can't think of other WC that had so many classic players
The 7-1 made a complete mockery of the sport.
Part of the beauty of football is how hard it is to score goals, that's why player's celebrate like mad when they do, for a game where the winner's get to play in the biggest game in football to have 4 goals scored in six minute's is a complete farce.
Ronnie that's only because 1990 is so long ago, in 203 we'll probably all go 'Remember the days of Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez...'

I love that game. Left me completely stunned. A nation wept. It was so out of the ordinary and therefore one of the world cups iconic moments for me.
You got a point Penguin.
I will wait for a decade and reassess (esp the 2014 class) again
European and world champions Spain...
GOT RUINED BY ROBBEN
That was the most enjoyable match for me, at no point did I feel sorry for Spain like I did for Brazil in the 7-1. Brilliant surprise, some thrilling play and iconic goals (RVP header, Robben leaving the defence for dead)
It was the best I've seen, although I've only really seen 3 (four at a stretch, can barely remember 2002 and I was only 2 when 1998 happened). 2006 was arguably better for all the big teams showing up and doing pretty well, but there were more surprises in Brazil with the likes of Costa Rica, Colombia. Italy and France going out early in South Africa wasn't particularly entertaining, while Brazil and England also disappointed. The Netherlands have been great over the last couple of tournaments, first in 2010 when lots of big names - most notably Sneijder - were at their peak or coming to the end of a long career (Gio) and they nearly won it, then in 2014 when not many superstars were in the team but they were supplemented by exciting youngsters and utilised an interesting style.

86 and 90 were my favourites, probably 90 overall. And yes, I am allowed to say that. If you were around at the time, it wasn't a nostalgia-fest. If it was all about the nostalgia, surely 82 would always be mentioned too? Or earlier Cups?
Euro 2000 was decided by Golden Goal so it is automatically one of the worst tournaments

94 was my favourite, until the final
90 was a bit dull bar the Cameroonians.
86 was good, but as a 7 year old the games were on too late in the main.
98 and 02 had some good moments.
06 and 10 were pretty average.
14 was good in the groups but pretty crap I'm the knockouts, which is the opposite to the norm.
I think 2010 final was a good game between two teams at the peak of their powers, Netherlands fouling was good, not much in it, keepers were busy and quite a memorable winner. Germany counter attacking the fook outta England. ghana flying the flag for africa was good, Suarez handball some nice long range goals in that one (Gio, a few from Forlan)
2014 final same scoreline but not as good, 5-1, 7-1 between some of the top teams was ridiculous and memorable.

I watched a YT documentary on 2002 and the whole joint host thing seemed cool. Lots of high profile refereeing incidents as well. Ronaldo good.
I still remember Jozy Altidore turning Puyol in the confederations cup 2009 lol.
I remember every Champions League final very well. Think Paris 2006 was my first (and favourite )

I remember quite a few European Cup/Champions League finals.
AC Milan demolishing Barca stands out, As does Marseille v Red Star for different reasons.
Not sure if they showed EC finals when English clubs were banned as don't recall them. Or maybe I wasn't allowed to stay up to watch?
favourite all time USMNT XI?
