We're Front Runners For Pogba

Haha.

Why would he leave the champions of Italy and CL finalists to join Arsenal?

posted on 11/6/15

Real or Barca are the front runners, we definitely are not. I see him staying at Juve.

Bats

I did mean in EPL terms. If he really wants Spain and Spain alone then obviously we're toast. But if he was that adamant he wanted Spain then EPL clubs wouldn't be bothering to even enquire about a deal. So he's clearly not ruling the EPL out.

He's only joining Barca, they made a bid which got rejected.
We need to strengthen elsewhere

Ba ha ha he strikes me as this he strikes me as that you've never even seen the lad in the flesh you know absolutely nothing about him bar that he's French.

I think the possibility of signing him is under 5%. Yes playing for Wenger might be an attraction for him, but he would chose Chelsea, City and maybe even United due to their recent success and fact they can all double whatever we offer him in wages.

There is that, but Viera is yet to be proven at making players. Christ Wenger is that good at making them that he even gets you paid a fat wad for an entire career injured. Also Toure is "The Man" in City's midfield, clashing egos and all that.

........

My question was rhetorical. I didn't need an answer from you as it implied he would have to be stupid to leave a club which is currently far more successful domestically and on the European stage than arsenal.

No, but your right, it's all about wengers "pulling power"...

Serie A is a pub league and Juve have underachieved in Europe pretty much since they last won it until they got to the final this year (and still lost).

Most players would pick Arsenal over Juve, better City, better stadium, better league, bigger pay cheque. Just ask Alexis.

But can they make him a footballing legend? The man who made the legends at Utd has gone. And he'd be swallowing a tonne of pride to return to the club who said he wasn't good enough anyway. Not happening. Murinho's never 'Made' a player in his life so you can forget Chelsea too.

As much as money and titles, players want to be remembered as one of the greatest to play. And despite the dismissive comments here ignoring the fact. If you're young, French and highly talented then Arsene Wenger can guide you to something all the wages in the world can't buy. The status of footballing legend.

Though City are Utd's direct rivals, to a young French player, they will not have the pulling power of a London based Arsenal, primed to challenge, with Wenger at the helm.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
What about the pulling power of the London based champions with Jose at the helm?

Do you genuinely believe this nonsense?

Managers do not make legends. They may help develop them but they do not make them the playera they become, the player does that.

Many players have become legends playing under crap managers and also not done as well under better managers.

I swear people never used to be as obssessed with a managers influence on players as they are nowadays.

Nobody remembered who the managers of Maradona, Ronaldo and Zidane were.

Ozil...

Sanchez...

You are an idiot!

He'd obviously make the move for the same reason they did. Go read what they had to say about coming to Arsenal and why. Then you may understand how stupid that argument is

If just ourselves and Chelsea were interested I would be shocked if he chose us. Chelsea definitely have the biggest pulling power in England. Most successful domestically and in Europe over the last couple of seasons, best squad, best manager, can offer the most money, best City. They have pretty much everything over us. Could only see younger less established players picking us over them.

Chelsea, City and United all have more chance of signing him. He's on PSGs radar as well as the Spanish giants so his wages alone price us out.

He's already a big name, why would he care that much about what Wenger had done with less high profile players?

Also, tell me the last time we signed a top player from a club who actually wanted to keep hold of them.

posted on 12/6/15

Wenger has a good reputation, of course, but let's not try and pretend he's the sole reason those two players went to Arsenal.

Who else actually tried to sign them? You were the only ones in for Ozil and Liverpool were the only other team after Sanchez, so it's a no brainer they went to Arsenal.

Hazard turned down Fergie in favour of Chelsea who were managed by Di Matteo. I'm sure the manager has an influence on attracting players but not to the extent that you are making out.

There's more in favour of City, United and Chelsea as clubs signing Pogba than Arsenal I'd say.

But it's moot anyway because he'll blatantly end up in Spain.

Murinho wants to be the only legend in his team, which is why he's never made any footballing legends, only bought them. He has no interest in developing his young players so brings to the deal, a distinct possibility of career suicide for a player whom is not the finished article.

Stacked up against a man who's made some of the biggest legends in the game and has a reputation for notoriously standing by his young players throughout their development, there's not that much of a contest really.
