Good luck with that since Shaqiri just signed for Stoke.
OR you can keep Lamela and buy Shaqiri.
Lamela has shown glimpses of quality and one of the more creative players in our team. He just needs to gain some consistency (Eriksen too). Shaqiri wouldn't cost more than £15m anyway.

Shaqiri is better than Lamela, but isn't really a winger as such in the traditional sense so it depends on how you'd want to utilise him. More of a number 10 or someone who likes to cut in from the flank.
No thanks. If Shaqiri can't even get into an awful Inter team he can't be anything special.
Lamela was tearing up Serie A, and now he's had some time to adapt will only get better.
LKS. That's pretty much like Lamela - who isn't a winger as such either - so it'd be a like for like in that respect. Just a better-suited version for our game in my opinion, and a good option as a 10 too if we want variation. He reminds me of VDV a little, but a VDV who can run!
Hugo. I think keeping Lamela and getting him in may leave us a bit samey. I'd rather have one and a player or two that are a little more direct - Townsend and another to replace Lennon.
Yedlin played RM for the US the other night incidentally, set 2 up and got MotM. I have a sneaky feeling he is being lined up as an option further forward for us.
Chadli
Pritchard
Eriksen
Shaqiri
Townsend
Yedlin/Lennon/another direct winger
That'd be a nice mix for the three positions
Shaqiri is bang average, he's the Swiss David Healy, great in his countries colours, Shiite at club level

That's a nonsense statement. Some players just aren't a good fit at a club, or a country. Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry both struggled in Italy for example.
Can he not get in the Inter side? 15 league games since January. 20 in total.
* he has only been there since January
Shaqiri ? No thanks !
It's defo a no brainer - keep lamela
id take it any day cant see Lamela ever making it , how much more time does he need
I saw Shaquiri for Inter against Celtic last season' europa lge. I thought he was one of their better players, entertaining to watch and got stuck in, he would be perfect for the more physical PL.
Shaqiri is considerably better than Lamela. All this talk of Lamela's potential but he doesn't show any of it.
Shaqiri is quick, strong and direct with a belter of a left peg. Like Townsend, but talented. He's also tenacious and hard working. He'd be a very good signing.
Shaqiri is like Townsend in that international performances have masked club performances. Plus he really isn't suited to a press at all as he can be quite lazy off the ball. Wouldn't take him in the current system over lamela.
From HITC Sports
According to a report from Calciomercato.com Inter Milan are considering offering a player-plus-cash deal to sign Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela this summer.
The report suggests that Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri could be the player to head in the opposite direction, but the simple fact is Tottenham would be wise to avoid such a move at all costs.
Shaqiri is a famous name in England but he is a player whose reputation is considerably bigger than his recent achievements in the game.
The 23-year-old signed for Inter Milan back in January but did not exactly set the San Siro on fire upon arriving, scoring two goals and providing three assists in 20 appearances.
Prior to that, 15 appearances for Bayern saw a return of three goals, one assist and a considerable amount of time spent on the bench.
Shaqiri is a talented player, of that there is no doubt, but fans should not get too caught up by his World Cup hat-trick last summer or his famous name, and Tottenham supporters certainly should not think they would be getting a great deal parting with one young winger and replacing him with another.
Lamela’s first season at Tottenham can be written-off following serious injury, meaning that in many ways the most recent campaign was the one where he began to find his feet.
At just 23 (the same age as Shaqiri) Lamela is getting used to the Premier League and showed last season that he is growing into a fine player.
He is going to be a star in time, so why replace him with another enigma who could set Tottenham back in terms of needing plenty of time to settle himself?
Shaqiri is good and in time he could be great, but he is not the superstar some fans suggest and Tottenham would be wise to focus on getting the best out of the Argentine international, rather than sign a player who – if the reports are true – has been deemed surplus to requirements at Inter after just six months.

Can we stop using YouTube videos to evidence how good a player is please? I'm sure with the right clip selections, someone could make David Luiz look like Fabio Cannavaro.
Interesting quote hidden in the Ben Pearce interview (he's a Spurs fan and journalist):
http://www.thefightingcock.co.uk/forum/threads/q-a-with-tottenham-journalist-ben-pearce.14869/
"Of course there’s a language barrier with a number of the players as well, so there are players I’ve never spoken to – Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela, for example."
2yrs and no lingo. Shocking
Not at all, footballers are hardly the smartest. Lamela knows Italian and Spanish already, he probably basically understands English but not enough to do an interview comfortably.
You ever think that a footballing journalist should probably make the effort to speak the second most popular language in the world? Especially considering he is the university educated one.
Not if he's an English based journo, no. Not that it matters - he isn't fluffing chances for us, crying off back home to S.America, or taking 10s of K per week off of us.
I think it's far more shocking a player can't after two years, especially if their form has been very patchy, and considering the spare time they have. Shows lack of drive to me
