John Terry has one glaring weakness in his game: he has little to no pace. So when AVB played the ridiculous high-line defence, as manager of Chelsea, of course Terry found himself (and his lack of pace) laughably exposed at times.

But that doesn't mean that he's overrated; unless, of course, he'd been rated as a "speed demon" at some point.

His positional sense, reading of the game, commanding presence and eye for goal, all conspire to make him one of the best defenders the league (or indeed the world) has ever seen. And his stats and winners medals speak for themselves.

It's not good tactics to play a high line when you're top defender isn't overly quick, is it? But just because Terry isn't the quickest player, doesn't mean he's not a good defender.

He has other abilities that negate his lack of pace.

Playing a high line isn't just about being fast as a defender, it's about positioning and intelligence

Terry is top class / world class in certain tactics. One of the best organisers ever. But he had limitations and there are plenty better if you weren't using the tactics that covered for those limitations.

also the Premier leagues lack of worldclass defenders makes terry look better
