Without doubt we are the biggest club in England by far, the cream always rises to the top.
Biggest doesn't mean best.

We will be the best as well in another season.
We were laughed at and mocked for spending £1bn.

Rightly so. No one else likes you.

In terms of spending power, you are no longer the only big player in the country. You will have to spend obscene amount to win the PL again.
I'm looking forward to see the spin you guys and your pals in the media will put on it now that the shoe is on the other foot.
We will be the best as well in another season.
Liverpool fans have been saying that since 1990.

We like ourself. And that's what matters.
Spending from last season is now approaching £350m for United. Still a long way to go for you guys anyway before you ca hit the £1bn mark.
This thread bores me now. Have a good evening all.

Going by all those empty seats, not very much, I would say.

Very true Binky. But Liverpool failed to adapt to the modern world in the 80's and were left with a small stadium and limited marketing prospects.
United are (to quote some idiot City fan on here a few years back) a juggernaut in the commercial world.
I'd want us to give Europe a good go for £1bn, not fail embarrassingly at it like some.

Part of the PROJECT is to grow the fan base.
The addition of 6k seats is proof we are heading in the right direction.

Fingers crossed, all eyes on you. The spending is already beginning to rack up.
and it's all our own money, imagine that?
It wasn't just the spending of money as to why people pointed and laughed at City. It was the scattergun, pin the tail on the donkey way in which it was done. Not just transfer fee's but the insane wages which forced the market up.
Wayne Bridge (who was already way above his payscale at Chelsea), Adebayor, Kolo Toure, Gareth Feckin Barry, Craig Bellamy and so on given £100k+ wages when they were all barely worth half of it.
We spend our own money, and have maintained ourselves at the top of football for over 20 years.
I highly doubt City will remain at the top of English football for over 20 years.
We were laughed at and mocked for spending £1bn. So far, one can argue that we have achieved our aims and objectives.
---------------
And what were they?
To become a rich arab's plaything?
Congratulations
Kolo and Barry were key players when we won the league in 2012 and their combined wages were less than United were paying Falcao last season.
The addition of 6k seats is proof we are heading in the right direction.

I would try and fill the other 20,000 first.
To reach the 1bn you suggest, we still have £650m to spend, I've put a few names with rough prices below, assuming we signed these, we would still have £400m left.
Muller - £70m
Ramos - £50m
Ronaldo - 100m
Otamendi - £30m
I'm not a football manager but even I could mount a title challenge with our current players & these additions.
Your spending will increase again soon as you have a few ageing players, but as this is just a WUM article I won't bother wasting too much time.
Ha United showing their true colours. Abandoned any principles they claimed to have. Love it. Many fans desperately trying to cling on to the bs and in fairness there are people in Russia that still think Stalin was the t!ts..

Falcao took a paycut to sign for United (and lets be honest, a 3rd division wage would have been too much on the showing he had), he at least had the previous form and reputation to be given big wages.
Toure won the league with Arsenal once upon a time, Barry had achieved mediocrity, much like most of those other signings. None merited the silly wages or transfer fees City were throwing around.
