Floyd has only just fought an opponent everyone thought would be his toughest fight
He deserves to take a fight that little bit easier for his next bout
Many boxers do the same
He has nothing to prove
Maybe the 50th will be a better opponent
I can't see Floyd retiring after this

Hopefully Floyd fights Cotto or Khan in May.

He's gotta carry on to 50-0, he can't retire only tying Marciano's record.

I just found D4thincarnation's profile.

All his articles are about boxing. I post 99% on the football boards.

I'm actually really surprised, when the fight was originally suggested I'd assumed Mayweather was using Berto as a way of throwing people off the scent.

I know a lot of people will buy this fight just because it's Mayweather but I won't be. Boxing for me is at its best when you have two equally (or as close as possible) fighters in against each other. I find mis-matches a little bit uncomfortable to watch and there is a chasm between the best fighter in the world right now and some fella who has lost 3 of his last 6.

Groves vs Badou Jack on the Floyd-Berto undercard.

Huge fight for Groves. Can't really afford to lose.

I hate when people say he lost 3 out of last 6! After Alexander everyone wanted Khan mayweather and he had lost 2 out of last 6! When pacquiao fought moreles 3rd time he had lost 3 of the last 5! When pacman fought Oscar he was 3 in last 6! Cotto vs Canelo Cotto is 2 in the last 4! When Duran fought hearns he was 3 in last 6!

Saying that berto is a poor option for Floyd but atleast it will be exciting!

It's strange how so many people say that the likes of Thurman, Bradley or even Brook wouldn't have a good chance against Mayweather and yet have little problem with him fighting someone like Berto who has little to no chance of winning this fight.

I just hope that Mayweather doesn't think he can fight two more easy fights just to beat the Marciano record because it heavily detracts from the meaning of it if he does.

Sadly I think it's very possible because I don't see Mayweather retiring or even relinquishing his belts after he wins what will be an easier fight against Berto.

------------------------------

Can't see this fight selling well. A big chunk of Mayweather's ppv revenue comes from people who buy his fights in the hope that they'll see him lose.

Very little chance that he'll lose this fight so I don't see this fight doing huge nunbers, especially as many people won't even know who Berto is.

Either way I thought that this fight was going to be on free TV in the States. That was the talk originally even though Mayweather still has one fight left with Showtime.

I think most people won't buy the fight but like me and the rest of the boxing world id wager that you still tune in to watch the fight live or the day after.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

To be honest, this will probably be one where I look at the result and decide whether it's worth watching.

My problem with the fight is that I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't be watching Mayweather at his best because Berto won't draw that kind of performance out of him. And watching Berto get punched in the face for 12 rounds whilst he's unable to do anything about it doesn't overly interest me!

It's a shame, irrespective of whether you like Mayweather as an individual he's an awesome fighter and we probably have 1 or 2 chances left to watch him perform. I'm sure all of us would like an opponent who draws the very best out of him.

After fighting Manny and taking into the magnitude of the event I think it's justifiable for Mayweather to take this fight.

My guess is he will come out of retirement for one final fight after this one and possibly fight Pacman again. It's still the money fight and can make more money doing this than fighting anyone else.

Yep. Im not bothered about who he fights. Im not a fan of his but im not gna moan about his opponent. He's earnt the right to pick who he wants. Im looking forward to when he retires though. The division is being held up by Mayweather indirectly and directly.

Vik yep these guys are definitely avoiding each other for now. They or their promoters want to milk as much as they can from the fighters by fighting lower level opponents, before putting them in the ring with each other.

The thing is it doesn't matter who Floyd fights he will be ducking someone!

If he fights Khan he's ducking thurman and vice versa!
If he fights GGG at 152lbs he's draining him, if he fights brook he's Ducking Khan and thurman, he can't fight Bradley,

Makes no difference who he fights someone somewhere will find a way to discredit it! People still calling him a ducker and picks his opponents (which he does) but if he kept the WBO title he would be fighting sadam Ali which is just as bad! So it's not as if he's picking rubbish (except berto) his last 10 fights have been
Pacman
Maidana
Alvarez
Guerrero
Cotto
Ortiz
Mosley
JMM
Hatton
Oscar

Which is an incredible run and atleast 5 first pick HOF
