Ozil is a big problem

You can make a case for either of Ramsey or Ozil being dropped. Been saying it for months, 3 into 2 does not work. Ramsey was much worse than Ozil today.

Ramsey is just a selfish piece of excrement. His poor play has nothing to do with anyone else. His disappearance from the frame when we are defending is unforgivable really.

Over the past few months, Ozil has been been very influential for us. The whole team was utter rubbish today. I'm confident they will all improve for next game

I just made an article stating similar. Santi is not a winger. He showed how well he plays alongside Coq and should be there every game. If form drops or he needs a break, bring in Ramsay. Or if Ozil is underperforming, push Santi to ten and have Ramsay next to Coquelin. Butno Ramsay/Cazorla/Wilshere on the wings experiment. Kills our width and offers no pace.

Ozil was much better near the end of last season but any decent form he has is exaggerated, it was encouraging to see him improve but still not near his peak or what he's capable of apart from flashes in games. Santi was twice as good at no.10 but got moved when Ozil was fit again. That sort of thing annoys me, how can Wenger not see what Santi's so much better there and the team plays so much better. But he still plays Ozil at no.10 every game and never takes him off.

Completely agree with op

Ozil does not fit our system.

The best game we played last season was away to Man city where we had a mf of cazorla, coq and Ramsey.

Ramsey had a shocker but at least he has legs and is definitely far better than Ozil.

*Far better than Ozil defensively

Why did Ozil look very good with Walcott up front?

He was nowhere near that, take the Ozil tinted specs off, he doesn't even get mentioned anywhere near player of the season debates.

Özil only stepped up after the first goal. He wasn't great but every chance pretty much came through him. Ramsey is a big worry. Seems like half a season wonder.

Ozil has been anonymous for 2 years now

"Dont worry. Ozil will do a flick next game and his fanboys will claim he is world class.

Pointless expensive player"

spot on

Ozil's also had very good games with Giroud up front... it's not about buying the players to suit him, the truth is he's the problem. Him losing the ball constantly and disappearing isn't Giroud's fault

Of course he didn't get mentioned for POTY, because he was injured for most of the first half of the season.

After he came back, he was ranked the joint-best attacking midfielder in Europe in that Football Observatory list - which looked at preformances from Jan 1st onwards.

He made it to #2 on Bleacher Report's PL power rankings during that time also.

We have an attack that needs to play fluid quick moving football, but we have a striker that cant play that way (sat in front of Ozil). Tody for example there were a few days that Giroud got the ball and just sat with it for a few seconds while the West Ham defence got back in position. Once they had 5 players back who hd turnd to face us Giroud (now with space) played the ball. Some idiot on here think that is great hold up play, but im leting the entire defence get back in position is suicidal.

Just spot on. Read it again everyone.

When you play a well drilled team you need to pull players out of position to create space for the likes of Ozil and Santi to function.

Pulis used to do the same with stoke and now WBA. But we destroyed them last season. Why? Because of movement up front.

Özil has been playing better than Ramsey in the past 5 months.
Özil was awful today but so was the Welshman.
If we had to drop one (and I think we have to), then it'd Ramsey.
He had his wish today and started centrally but him and Coquelin don't work.

And you idiot think Benezma would have save us. We had the Ox, Walcott, Sanchez all on later. We were the passes into the box to run at?

Our passing and crossing into the final third was the reason we didnt score. If you watching Giroud on the wing you know there is simply something wrong. But you comes up with your same old shiiiiit.

Bleacher Report PL power rankings WTF

Listen he was better and he improved but was nowhere near his peak. Ozil fanboys are on another planet, watching a different game. Wenger said himself Ozil needs to step up this season.

Also can't ignore that many of his worst performances come in big games, and in important games or against tough teams he's flopped in 90% of the games. No exaggeration he's been shocking

Should we ignore these things because Ozil used to be a great player 4 years ago at Madrid? He was insonsistent at Madrid as well and disappeared at times. And as much as I hate Mourinho there must be a reason he always took him off at 60 mins. He looks knackered for us sometimes yet plays 90 mins always.
