1st game of the season yep shift the blame to 1-2 players.
What about the rest of the team that was dog chite yesterday???
The precious santi was just as bad as was Giroud, Oxlade, Ramsey, Coquelin, Mertersacker, Debuchy, Cech, Monreal.
Erm...no. I've attributed blame to the whole team. I've already addressed that in the article:
"And the thing is, although the whole team was substandard yesterday, Ozil has had too many performances like the one yesterday."
No need to play Ramsey and Coq beside each other at home, you could have pushed Ramsey further up the pitch and given yourselves more options in the box also giroud was dreadful
Blame to manager, hes the one who put the team out and gives the team talk. What did he say to them?? this was be a cake walk.
Think the point the OP is making is that this is by no means the first performance like this from Ozil. Yesterday the majority were very poor, but we've seen this too many times from him.
Ozil has had more than enough time to show everyone that he is a top top player.
You can see that ability wise he is a top player but only a performance every ten or so games is appalling.
After two years he is no different and i just can't see him improving his consistency.
Wenger will persevere with him no doubt as he's stubborn and will not admit he's made an expensive mistake.

Of course the manager deserves blame and I think most people on here who know me will know I am a staunch critic of Wenger.
However, the players are accountable for their own performances too and when you have players losing their tactical discipline, having strops and misplacing simple passes, that is the fault of the players. You don't need a top class coach to know how to do the very basics.
Players are just as culpable as the manager in this.

Precisely This article is not just based on yesterday's atrocious performance.
Dunno what people expected of Ozil, if everybody keeps coming inside, it dramatically reduces the space he has to work in.
I'm not defending him, he was average yesterday (certainly not "bad", and he wasn't pocketed by that kid as many are trying to claim), but there have been a few articles about him when we have bigger issues to sort out.
Excellent player, doesn't suit a possession based game, doesn't suit a slow striker.
Hopefully we will fix that last issue this month
amongst the highest amount of assists in Europe
___
aka pass to Ronaldo = goal, i bet the majority of the assists are to him tho
If he doesn't deliver this season
___
when you say deliver you mean goals scored, cause i have an expectation of him scoring around 10 goals in the league if he plays around 30 games.
I would give it untill January. If his performances are still inconsistent and he continues to turn up for the big games then I would sell in Jan of the right offer came.
Hope I am wrong but I have seen nothing of him to suggest he suits our system
*continues not to turn up
"aka pass to Ronaldo = goal, i bet the majority of the assists are to him tho"
Seen this alot, doesn't stack up though. No Real Madrid player has got close to what Ozil did since he left there in terms of assists
I'm not defending him, he was average yesterday

Oh come on Tu Meke, he was one of our worst performers yesterday. He was bullied off the ball and when he did have possession, he hogged the ball and did nothing with it. There was no urgency to his game. And then to top it off, whenever he got dispossessed or got annoyed, he lashed out by committing stupid fouls from behind which wasted even more time.
Yesterday was honestly among one of the worst of a long list of rubbish performances from Ozil.
He was bullied off the ball and when he did have possession, he hogged the ball and did nothing with it.

Why do players dwell on the ball?
I agree that we do have bigger issues, but it is problematic that we persist with a player in our first team who always gets in because of what he did in the past at former clubs. He's done very little to merit a guaranteed first team place for us. I actually think he is hindering us with his languid style of play.
Ozil, just like Kagawa will end up back in Germany. Talented player but needs ample time on the ball. His languid style of play also makes it hard for him to endear himself to the Premier League fans who appreciate the headless chicken type of player a lot more. Mata is another player who is technically gifted and not built for running up and down the pitch all day long, however he has a little more resolve than Ozil to get tough when needed. Di Maria bottled this league. Ozil will probably have to do the same.
Swap him with cazorla and I am convinced our play will not only quicken up but improve dramatically
Why do players dwell on the ball?

Because there was no movement in front of him. And the rest of the team are to blame too. But that shouldn't detract from him taking ages to make a decision with the ball and then getting dispossessed effortlessly by WHU's midfielders. Then getting drawn in to committing stupid fouls.
Ozil loses the ball a lot but he is probably not as guilty as Sanchez who is very greedy on the ball
Difference being that Sanchez makes a different in the final 3rf and delivers.

But we played our best football last season with Santi in CM with Coq and Ozil as the AM.

Mata's only got little legs, Mr.C, he tries his best.
Di Maria was a disgrace though, don't think Ozil's anywhere near his level of disinterest.
There's no way he's going to be sold in Jan.
It's only been 1 game so far, if he has a good 25-30 games from now on, there will be no talk about getting rid at all.
We need to hold out,see what happens over the next few games, and hope yesterdays performance was a one off blip, because we cannot be that chit again in the PL and get results off any team, let alone the big ones.
