They both play CM under Rodgers
Lucas brings more to the side than Allen
They have both played CM and DM so i don't know why your shouting

Lucas defensive qualities far outweigh Allens attacking qualities. And they are competing for the same spot. They are both good at the short passing game but yes Allen is slightly better. Lucas isn't muscled off the ball as much as Allen. They both give away silly FKs
Allen tries to be a jack of all trades but is pretty bad at everything at the highest level.
If you want a good 5 yard pass then he is your man.
If you want him to be creative he goes missing
If you want him to play defensive he is lost and too lightweight.
One of the most undeserved contract renew renewal I can remember.

How can Rodgers hate Lucas when one of his most famous lines were "Do it for Lucas"
Why does Rodgers not picking Lucas mean that he must dislike him?
Some of you need to stop reading Heat or OK magazine.

We don't play with a DM so Lucas is redundant.
He can't play CM as he has proven in his appearances in that position.
Allen can play CM as he has proven. Whether he is good at DM or AM is irrelevant as he wont play in either position.
Allen will be back up and is probably 4th choice for two positions so won't play much.
Lucas is well down the order for CM because he can't play it, therefore he is available for transfer.
he was dropped and is extremely unhappy about it as he had been blocked from moving in January with promises made by the manager, who has now gone back on them, again. This is not the first time for him to suffer like this at the hands of Rodgers, who just refuses to accept we need a defensive midfielder, so I can't see him staying much longer, sadly. He has been treated extremely badly by the club

I remember reading some time ago that Allen's passing successes are higher than the likes of Iniesta. Since I can remember, I've found myself critical of Lucas for a point already made: he does give away unnecessary free kicks in very dangerous area. In other words, he is a liability. Great player and ambassador, but with him in the team we would struggle to get top 4.

Personally hope we keep him for this season, we've plenty of games to play and he has something to offer us when fit, even if it's just helping close a league game out or for me he should be the first name on the Europa League team sheet for the gropu stages, his experience can help in that comp and it will give him games to show he can push for a league start.
Lucas also knows and loves the club and is one of our senior players, think he is well worth keeping for just this season anyway.

so it must be true then, good god what is next.
We will keep him if he doesn't want to leave.
The ball is in his court.
We may accept a bid for him and he will have a decision to make.
If he chooses to stay then I am sure he will be used to close out games as you describe.
If he doesn't want to be a bit part player then the club will let him leave.
Seems fair to me.
He's really not a liability. There have been a grand total of two goals conceded from free kicks that Lucas has given away since he joined the club I think - it's a myth. Does it put us under pressure? Yes at time but it probably stopped a dangerous situation in the first place. Defend the free kick.

The article is about Lucas and rumours that he wants to leave. I added to the discussion. Where do I say it true? People need to stop being wise asses.
The old Lucas gives away free kicks in dangerous areas line
It always makes me laugh that one. So you're a defender or a defensive midfielder, you're tasked to stop the opposition scoring, you have a choice or letting the attacker run past you or taking him down, you have to weigh up which is the right choice in each situation. Most times it's take the player down. How many times per game do teams score from a freekick? It's not very many. You take the player down as its your job to stop the opposition scoring and the chances of them scoring from open play are much higher than scoring from a freekick.
The myth rodgers alienated Agger again..
when Agger asked to leave as he felt his body couldnt cope any longer with the premier league, so he wanted to go finish his career with brondby.
do you honestly believe we wouldnt have got better offers for him elsewhere in europe/the premier league? he was statistically our best defender the season he left, having been immense for us for a number of years.
The club and rodgers treated him extremley well, taking a financial hit so he could see out his career at another club he loves near his family and friends.
Yet cretins on here try to flip it around?
