De Gea news

Leno is another young talented keeper, plays for Leverkusen and is getting lots of top reviews around Europe. Hopefully the scouts know about him.

Depends on the profile of the keeper we want, I suppose.

Having a whole year to buy his replavemt is the main thing.

Given the low amounts Real are offering us for De Gea we'd probably lose most of his transfer fee on the basis of the selling club over pricing their goalkeeper as it is so late in the transfer window.

From a financial and squad strength pov it makes sense to hold onto DDG unless they make a very good offer!

Its been mentioned in the media and I think theres something to it that theres more to this transfer than de gea actually moving. I beleive the club are making a statement that they wont be facked around by madrid so unless they come up with the mad transfer money that every other player seems to be going for today, de gea will be going nowhere.

Buffon

£32.6 €45 2001

Part of the fees was paid via the transfer of Jonathan Bachini to Parma. Buffon is the most expensive goalkeeper of all time

He's not in the team because its obvious that he wants to play for RM. If the window closes and he is still at United, it doesn't change that he wants to play for RM. Its just that there is no prospect for him to do so until January at the earliest. His thinking and focus would still be geared towards going to Madrid. How do we select him in this situation?
________________

Because once the window is shut there is no longer any chance of him joining Real and therefore no need for him to be distracted or lose focus.

DDG has wanted to move to Real for ages but it has not stopped him performing for us. It is the uncertainty causing him to lose focus - not his desire to leave (as he has clearly had this desire for at least a year).

As long as our new keeper fits the profile of our philosophy and has gone through the process I am happy.

De Gea may also be in this process to Real Madrid, where he fits the profile of their philosophy

I don't understand why Di Maria is worth 60 million and De Gea isn't worth 80+ million.

He single handedly won us plenty of points last season where as Di Maria single handedly facked up multiple times

I assume this comment is a joke but in case it isn't...Firstly, this is factually wrong. Di Maria was the second highest assister in the league last year and was recognised as one of the best players in world football when we signed him. Assigning points to each DDG save and not assigning points to each ADM goal or assist just indicates that you jumped to your conclusion by plucking a belief out of thin air.

Secondly, as has been discussed ad nauseum, it also depends how long a player has left on his contract.

I honestly believe that De Gea is fast becoming one of the most overrated footballers in the history of the game.

Greg doesn't understand football, to be fair.

Biggest load of shiet I've ever read.
Di maria one of the best in football?
Because he passed the ball to ronaldo a lot, who to be fair, Ashley young would get 30 assists a season doing that too.
Just like his '11' assists for us, the majority of them absolute fluke

Oh my apologies Darren, I forgot you had a degree in discussing football on an internet forum.
Your name says it all really, Darren the king Fletcher, another awful player.

It's not about discussing football, it's about understanding it. Which you show a failure to do on a regular basis.

That comment misty replied to being a perfect example of it.
