Sorry but he has won a treble in two countries, league titles in 4 and he has a trophy haul unlike no other since he began.
He's obnoxious, as are his teams and his methods, but he's a fantastic manager.

Not denying his record, but that is to be expected with the resources he has had and the style of play associated with his teams. Parking the bus with teams full of world stars is embarrasing to say the lease

Nah....history will judge him as a born winner and the man who conquered Europe with unfancied Porto and Inter. I find him a juvenile, contemptible caant. And not nearly as interesting or entertaining as the obsessed British media make him out to be. But I wouldn't try to revise history on his accomplishments. Unfortunately (for him or Chelsea at least), he's too intense a character to be a long-term option at any club. Guardiola is weirdly similar in the same way. Both managers can get players to run through brick walls for them, but there's only so long you can demand that insane commitment without wearing your players out. Milan's Sacchi was another genius in that mold.
Fergie was very unique in that sense.

It is not genius to walk in to teams who have more money than sense, splash the cash, ignore the youth set up for ready made stars than play a brand of negative football Sam Allardyce would be proud of.
He didn't do that with Porto and Inter though did he.
He competed with arguably the best club side ever, for several years & won things with Inter and Porto... To discredit him based on him spending money at Chelsea and Madrid is ridiculous.
Anyone who looks at Mourinho's career and can't give him credit for what he's done is an absolute muppet.
That said, he's a Grade A cant, and portrays himself as a tw @

Stop talking rubbish. He didn't splash any cash at Porto. Or at Inter. Nobody fancied any of those teams in Europe till Maureen spent a few years there. I don't get why people keep peddling those same myths which are blatant lies. I get it: many people dislike the man. Just stop trying to revise history.

His net spend at inter was something like 20 million in two years and he built.the best team in Europe with that. You then add him winning the Cl with porto and you see how good he is. His success gave him the right to go to clubs that could pay big money. He'll be remembered as one of the great, and rightly so.
-----------------
While I agree with you here more than I disagree, let's not kid ourselves to think Inter were the best team in Europe the year they won the CL. Winning the CL doesn't make you best the team in Europe. That shouldn't take anything away from his achievement though.

Now you're just arguing like a child. George Graham was more "boring" than Maureen and I'm immensely proud of what he accomplished with Arsenal. Wenger has really produced the most deluded, pretentious fans in the English game in many Arsenal supporters.
I agree that it is folly to undermine Mourinho's achievements, however I do think serious questions need to be asked of a manager whose default reaction to a couple of underwhelming results is to alienate his players/staff, complain, and effectively force the hand of his owner to spend a significant amount of money.
Chelsea will likely spend the best part of a 100 million between now and the end of the window. We are talking about a title winning squad with no loss in personnel.
Let's not pretend that this is the first time this has happened either. For all of Mourinho's achievements, when thing's DON'T go well for him, he rarely shoulders the blame, but instead complains that he didn't have the resources available to make his team competitive.
Still a great manager, but I can see the logic of the OP.
The guy looks like he could do with a break away from the game tbh. He looks a bit drained. Not overly surprising though really. He's gone from a high pressure job Inter, to probably the biggest job in football at Real Madrid straight to Chelsea. All are intense jobs in terms of the media scrutiny (much of it down to himself admittedly) and pressure to win trophies constantly.
He himself is an intense person that burns brightly for short periods of time at each club. Maybe this intensity is taking its toll on him.
"While I agree with you here more than I disagree, let's not kid ourselves to think Inter were the best team in Europe the year they won the CL."
That even enhances the achievement. Barca looked unstoppable in '09/10, and Inter destroyed them at the San Siro with a masterclass.
"Chelsea will likely spend the best part of a 100 million between now and the end of the window."
Likely? I would say that is very much unlikely

Half agree. It is an amazing, huge achievement to beat the odds and win a tournament with a team that has less resources and quality players, but I cannot agree that winning a CL as an underdog is as big of an achievement as building the best team in Europe over a couple of seasons ala Ferguson, Pep.
I think Mourinho can be far more proud of his first Chelsea team 2004-2008 in which I think he arguably built the best team in Europe despite them not winning the CL (eg. screwed against Barca).
Likely? I would say that is very much unlikely

Okay, counting the 20 million for Rahman, the 35 they will end up spending on Stones. I think it is very possible a further signing could come in as well.
Mourinho of 2004/5 was a fantastic manager: charming, tactically astute, great motivator, and had the media wrapped around his little finger.
Fast forward a decade or so and he's still a great manager, but he courts controversy too often and is more acidic and full of barbs in his words than he ever was before.
I think his experiences with the Italian and Spanish media have brought out some undesirable elements in his character (that we saw glimpses of before, but not often) that are over-shadowing his managerial virtues. Sad, but true.
I hope, as a Chelsea fan, that he can get back to how he was before. I can but hope...
i have to agree with this. somewhere along the line we lost the importance of being winners at all costs.

Sorry but you can't just brush off his achievements because of what's he's spent. It just isn't that simple.
Even as a United fan I'll happily admit that if Jose was our manager, and he'd spent the money LVG has, we'd be guaranteed title challengers this season.
His major flaw is his tendency to self implode after a few seasons at a club. You can see it starting to happen now.
Mourinho is the ultimate short-term manager, basically.
