Lacazette will not go to a team of Spurs' level. He's good enough for the top teams in Europe and that's where he'll end up - probably for somewhere north of £30m, as well.
Other players in that position supposedly on their way for sub-£20m are:
Andriy Yarmolenko
Denis Cheryshev
Adem Llajic
Jakub Błaszczykowski
Victor Moses
...there's bound to be more, but all of the above are arguably more talented than Berahino.
Chris
The players you have listed are winger/outside right or lefts
Not really players who can play cf.
We need a player who can play both roles that's why we are chasing Berahino.
I was under the impression that Berahino would be used as part of the 3 behind Kane - he's not dislodging Kane, that's for sure, and it also seems ridiculous not to play a guy you've just bought for £25m. So I figured he'd be played as a winger/inside forward, hence my suggestions.
I'm sure there's a good few alternatives at CF too.
With days until the window closes... everyone is gonna be expensive because every selling team 1) knows we are desperate, 2) knows we have left deals too late, 3) no time to buy replacements & 4) wants to stick it to Levy because of his previous transfer antics. The whole thing is a shambles. We have sacrificed Premier league points because Levy is cheap. In this environment (TV money kicking in & rules on homegrown players..... You pay over the odds (Meet buy-out clauses etc) or you're not a player in the mkt. I doubt we'll sign anyone worthwhile
I'd just sign Austin ,J Rod at Southampton may be worth a shout.
Austin and J Rod isn't a bad shout, but both are injury gambles (J Rod a HUGE gamble).
I'd look at Loic Remy at Chelsea if they're still willing to sell.
The likelihood of us signing anyone from Saints is slim/none. They don't need the money, showed they can play hardball with Schneiderlin & are not best pleased with us post deals for MoPo & Toby. They are a direct rival to us for a top 6 spot. Zero chance of Wanyama & JayRod joining
I think the new TV deal has meant that it's not really in anyone's interests to be selling good players. The likes of Baggies, Everton etc. are turning down big offers that they never could before.
It means that we need to be looking abroad for players (as we can pay big wages like no other major footballing country), but we've been burned so many times we're only looking to the PL at the moment.
Even if you look at Norwich, Nathan Redmond would be a great buy for a middle/top club, but I'm sure they too would be turning down £20million bids.
The game has really changed over the last year. That's my point when people say Berahino 'isn't worth it'. Markets dictate value ... in this climate he's worth a lot.

Also, J Rod missed an entire season and there is no evidence yet that he's back to that level (tho I'm not saying that he won't improve). It's more than a gamble, it's madness.
Btw, Illarramendi returns to Sociedad.

Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi has told reporters he is "pleased" to be returning to boyhood club Real Sociedad after a disappointing stint at the Bernabeu.
The deal is expected to be confirmed shortly with Spanish media reported Sociedad have agreed to pay around £12.4m for Illarramendi having sold him to Real for close to £29.3m two years ago.
The fact that Stones (admittedly a good player) is going for £40m makes me feel a bit better about Spurs paying £25m for Berahino.
Stones is the better player for sure, but obviously centre halves come cheaper than strikers usually.
I think the new TV deal has meant that it's not really in anyone's interests to be selling good players

Bang on, staying in the PL for the big money next season is paramount to every club in the league.
With the money, even relegated teams should bounce straight back up as they'll have a huge financial advantage in the Championship.
The issue with the new television deal is that it should be used to offset ticket prices (i.e. make it cheaper for squeezed fans). Unfortunately it will disappear on player transfers, player wages and feckin agent fees
Remy or Austin would do the trick nicely, and both together would probably cost just a shade over what Berahino does.
Absurd to have 2 glaring priorities (centre mid, striker) still unsolved 3 games into the season.
Charlie Austin
Completely different player, can't really compare to be honest and is a one season wonder.
It's gonna be Berahino or bust, and I can see us paying what WBA want to appease the fans

Yes - it really is. I do think that with the 'Kane back-up' question there really are very, very few decent #9s across Europe at the moment. They're kind of dying out. Which is why I'm still amazed no-one has picked-up Austin.
I suspect that we'll end up with Austin, Moses and an unknown French DM. Which is at least better than what we have now. Just have to prey that Poch can coach Townsend, because if he can convert his talent into performances, we'll have a player on our hands (or at least a valuable asset to flog to Southampton in January )

This is a good shout. But can't see Chelsea selling, or Remy that interested in coming to be honest (if he moved, you'd imagine that he'd want guaranteed game time)
Chelsea won't sell to us,

Domestic... I hear what you are saying but you are missing the point. We are entering a new era of football with the money that's flowing into the game, What u, I or anyone else thinks about how much we spend is a waste of time. Over the next 12-18months. Average players are gonna be moving for 20mln+. If Southampton called Levy today and said how much for Eriksen ???".... Answer is probably north of 30mln.... Is he worth it..... NOT IN A MILLION YEARS
Other countries must laugh at us and our crazy prices for domestic players, and all these players chucking in transfer requests
Same with Lloris. He's an excellent keeper, but we'd probably be asking upwards of £40million for him? Is he 'worth' that? Not in 'old' money, but maybe in 'new TV' money, yes. Same with Harry Kane ... it'd take a fortune for us to part with him.
Berahino is WBA's version of Kane.

That's not really true in a window where Alderweireld cost £11m, Shaqiri cost Stoke £12m, Pedro only £21m and Arturo Vidal only £28m...
Fact is English players are hideously overpriced, and for the most part they aren't even that good. I think we'd all agree Berahino is no world beater. There's value out there, it's just Spurs seem incapable of spotting it.
