I hear what you're saying Griff but we're not playing free flowing football, if we'd played the 2 up front card, we could have lost the centre of the park to Arfield and Jones. Plus Johnson and Hanson/Hendrick aren't the best playmakers in the team.
We need to work on our creativity a lot and had we a bit of a better balance and were Martin, Weimann and Russell looking sharper, then maybe I'd have considered it but think until we've got more rhythym in our forward game I can see why he did it.
Might have taken Martin off for last 5 mins and given the owd goal poacher Bent a try out though. Not sure we need another player out wide, just need to work on our decision making and maybe a bit of patience.

Burnley are a very solid and well-organised team but we had complete control of the second half. We lacked incisiveness around the box. Some fans have criticised Ince but this was the sort of match he might have won for us. Johnson looks excellent. The backbone of the team looks extremely solid which is the most important thing at this stage. We do need a player who can run at the opposition and if I was Clement I would be trying very hard to get someone on loan who can do this. If we had played like Burnley did in the second half I think we would be more worried about how we were pretty much dominated, in fact a Burnley fan just told me he thought we outplayed them.

Perfect summatation, we are so close to being really good.
Long way to go.
Is summatation even a word?
Thought I'd chance my arm.
Maybe he should have Griff and he did try to get either Pritchard or Lennon. You can't expect a new manager and half a new team to hit the ground at full speed. I see an improving team which still needs a bit of work at the top end. Clement looks cautious but that is understandable early on in his job when it can destroy morale if you give games away. It ain't that easy when even one of the favourites like Burnley completely sit in and defend.
Someone is going to get a battering, early first goal, 3 pts and we are on it.
We are a grower for sure.
Not even a cold chill yet.
Hopefully Igor there are signs.
I think Butterfield is key to us getting going in this department you saw signs of him and Russell developing an understanding, Russell playing across the line and Butters moving out wide, as we get a bit more confident I can see him moving ahead of Martin from the long balls to give us more options here and hopefully more options to move the ball about. Get the sense owd Butters is maybe not 100% and maybe trying too much. Nice to see our full backs pushing on too. If GT can start switching play from the pivot too we should be able to get more dynamism into it.
It will take time though, meantime I'm seeking solace in opposition midfielders coming a cropper in central midfield, the 2nd ball going to us and players not going through us like a knife through air.

Our midfield looks really strong and Butters is only finding feet and probably trying too hard to become an instant hero.
Johnson looks really solid and both have their first home games under their belts so improvement will come.
George is the general, just need the soldiers to grab a goal.
Just back from iPro.....
We dominated, yet failed to score - I seriously didn't expect to. One of those nights.
Vast improvement but we still need 'look comfortable' and at the moment I ain't convinced. Can't pick out anyone who had a horrendous game but apart from Keogh who once again was class, Russell who played excellently but looked knackered towards the end (Bent to come on?).
'Twas a good team performance and if we'd scored we wold have been raving and dancing in St Peters Street and Irongate.......π»πΊπ»πΊ
We did win most second balls tonight, can't remember last season when we did that

Wise woman.
Just back.....my Balti pasty is now cool enough to eat.
Progress..that's what I witnessed tonight.....I thought that the full backs played better with Wieman and Johnny ahead of them.
We need a playmaker. ......how about putting Ince in the not 10 role behind Chrissy. Johnson didn't do a great deal wrong but he didn't really create anything either. JR and the Austrian out wide with George and Butters/ brad holding & Ince free to roam.
Sorted....now to make some gravy
A cuddle! On a Monday and only six days until the Sabbath. Not going to happen
Just tinkering a little bit in garage...in case we do need to go a bit more attacking instead of Hendrick for Butters.

How is the Heblet doing at Uni?
Obvs would only use this as a secondary formation and not a starting one.
Sheepthrills was thinking the same but think BJ stays on instead of Butters. Would switch Russell to the right too to cover defensively in the absence of Butters
Is a clean sheet possible after a cuddle?
