And it will take a lot longer than 3 years for Liverpool to become serious title contenders

You probably would have said the same thing three years ago.

He's a great manager. Would take him at Arsenal today if offered. But he will fail at Liverpool. Financially you can't compete with the big boys and club/fan expectations are unrealistic at Liverpool. Your owners seem pretty ruthless too. I give him 3 years and he's gone.

We already have the nucleus of a good side. You are a bitter arsenal fan. What we need now is tweaking here and there. A commanding cb to partner Sakho and a worldclas defensivecmidfield player and that is enough for my

A bitter Arsenal fan 😂

Why would I have any reason to be bitter. What Liverpool do don't really concern my club. We are competing for trophies, Liverpool are not. We have the finances to compete with Europe's top clubs, Liverpool do not. The only one of the big boys who should be worried are Chelsea and that's only because they have been dreadful so far. If they find their mojo you have no chance of top 4 this season and this season seems your best chance.

===================================

Just not in actual European footballing competitions.

posted on 5/10/15

Not relevant. The finances are there to bring in world class players who demand both big fees and wages ie Cazorla, Ozil, Alexis, Cech.

Liverpool's marquee signings are 2nd rate players that no big club bother gambling on ie Balotelli, Lallana, Firmino, Benteke.

That's the difference. That is what Klopp has to compete with, and that's just Arsenal, never mind the other big boys who can blow you out of the water, too.

It's unrealistic to expect a top 4 finish and thats what your owners want. 3 years tops

In terms of Arsenal in Europe, or challenging for the premier league, very true.

3 years sounds perfect for me.

Oh Jennifer, so unlike you to be selective of which part of my comments you reply to. Truth hurts 😂 😂 😂

Also, Cazorla Ozil Sanchez Cech are players we could easily afford, we couldnt get them for other reasons, not because of wage bill or transfer fee demands. Talking a lot of sheet here Bats.

Mine are truths, yours is opinion.
Arsenal are abject in europe, and havent challenged for the title in over 10 years.
In that time, Liverpool have been runners up twice, and been European Champions.
More truths, no opinion.
Arsenal is a shopping destination for the wives of players no longer required at europes elite clubs.

That's what he had to compete with in Germany, too, (and succeeded in doing so).

And Bayern aren't just entering the CL like a man entering a karaoke competition fot the amusement of his mates, like Arsenal....they can realistically win it.

But thanks for the prophecy.
We don't even know if Klopp will be our manager yet (or even whether he'll be asked), but when you get advice from the famously patient and understanding Arsenal fans, (taking a break from arguing whether one of their best ever manangers should be sacked)...well, obviously, you treasure it

Cazorla maybe. The other 3, no. Not under FFP. Look at Liverpool's signings over the years, recruit young for modest fees and/or wages. Sell at a profit, repeat. Arsenal did this for a decade when we were paying off the stadium. But back then there was only one oil rich club to compete with. You are competing with 4 financial powerhouses.

I bet you're glad you've come out of that phase now, and are winning league titles and Champions Leagues, instead of just paying off the stadium.

Bayern were in turmoil when Dortmund were bossing it in Germany. The fact of the matter is the competition is far stronger here than over there. Bayern had to have a garbage season and then it's anyone's game. In England Chelsea can have a garbage season and then there is still city, Arsenal, United and for you lot even Spurs to get past.

What does this have to do with anything. What does Arsenal's underachievement under Wenger have anything to do with the topic being discussed. Nothing 😂😂😂

I take it none of you can actually argue my point, just take shots at an underachieving club who's position you would still love to be in, a club that your own owner is quoted as having the model they aspire to achieve 😂

=====================================
You dont have a point.
As I said earlier, you would have said three years ago, Liverpool were years off challenging for the title, so your opinion is obviously flawed, and tainted by bias.
Liverpool finished above you two seasons ago, and could quite easily do so again in the very near future.
Your club are not an elite club, just a top 4 club, who consistently fail in Europe.

posted on 5/10/15

Nobody thought Liverpool would compete for the title 2 years ago. You grossly overachieved with Suarez Sterling Sturridge Gerrard all at the top of their games. 3 of them have since left and Sturridge is a crock. To expect to challenge with a far weaker squad against far stronger opposition is ridiculous.

But then that would only back up my initial comment. Liverpool's owners and fans live in a bubble of Delusion where they expect to compete despite not being that good and not having the resources to be that good.

Bats what are you talking about? We were in for Sanchez and probably offered more than you guys. We have outspent Arsenal in the market in recent times. You are talking sheet. Sounds like you are making it up as you go along just to be negative.

posted on 5/10/15

Liverpool actually offered Sanchez more money than Arsenal did.....

posted on 5/10/15

No one at Liverpool expects a title challenge anytime soon so you are talking serious sheet Bats, just give up.

posted on 5/10/15

I didnt say title challenge, I said top 4 challenge. Liverpool were in for Alexis because of the money they were getting for Suarez and because you had CL. You don't have CL now and the Suarez money is gone.

Spurs splurged £100M the season they sold Bale, doesn't mean they could do it now.

Utter nonsense. We were in for Sanchez before Suarez was sold. The way you're saying it is that we'd have to let Sanchez go if we didn't continually qualify for the CL.

We came as close to the title in 08 as you did in 09. Yes we finished in a lower position but points wise we had the same difference with the eventual winners

Well let me explain.
You said “Arsenal did this for a decade when we were paying off the stadium”, and I was keen to know what the difference is between Arsenal now and Arsenal then, In order to better understand your point, as you appear to be finishing in much the same league positions, and still getting pumped out the the CL.

You see? It was a direct reply arising from a point that you made, that’s normal in what’s lnown as “a conversation”.

I take it none of you can actually argue my point,
=========================================================
I’ve already thanked you for your wise prophecy.
I do not wish to argue with it, because I do not possess your prophetic powers.

Not am I privy to the expectations or objectives of our current owners: they have only told you, they haven’t told any of us.
