In Kennys eyes probably peg, though I would play Afobe up front.

He gets a while yet tats, all season for me, unless we end up in a relegation battle.

"No point playing Wallace on the left anyway, he was brought here to play central and won't shine in an unfamiliar position."

To play him central means dropping Afobe?

Don't be silly Peggy. Being dropped for not playing well and not fitting the system is reserved for people like Edwards.

Afobe plus 10 others.

I agree but you cannot have it both ways. I think the tools are to blame and that whoever the workman was we'd struggle. If you think the tools are good enough then only one person carries the can.

I think a lot of the tools are good enough, just we don't have able back ups, like defence.

No matter how crap they are we can't change them, which is mind boggling.

And, like it or not, that could end up damaging the players we are pinning our hopes on as much as it damages our season.

Jackett needs to be able to take young players out of the starting XI when they show the signs of needing a break as much as he needs to be able to bring them in when he thinks they are ready. That is good management. Very few young players come in and cement a place for the whole season which is what, by default because we have no options, we are asking them to do.

Ironic that our new policy of developing young players could wreck so many careers.

Yesterdays defeat was nothing to do with formation, it was individual errors that cost us yesterday, like you say our first 11-13 are fine, no one can calculate for individual errors. Afobe has said he wants and prefers to play the number 10 role and when Dicko plays its his best position.

I agree about Wallace too, he looked lost yestreday although he wasnt helped by not having any support with goldie occupied in defence.

Good point, Tats. You rarely win anything with a team of kids which is why the decision to sell Stearman is so baffling.
A good mixture of experience and youth is needed with back up so that younger player can be rested (or dropped as it used to be called).
Iorfa will be a top player but yesterday he was poor. Hause may come good, but yesterday he was poor. Price looks as though he could have a good career, but yesterday he was poor. Bright was crapp yesterday, but we have no back-up so he will have to sink or swim.
Poor management by Wolves over the last few years is to blame and whilst Kenny is not solely to blame for this, if he wasn't prepared to stand up to Moxey and Morgan, then he has to carry the can.

One better than what? Our current 11th? I can see that happening if we have a decent last three quarters of the season.

one better than last season Cyp.

Worryingly I have just read on another thread that we are where we belong because Morgan has money but he won't spend it on BETTER players.

Any reason gb's article is closed for comments?

anyone want to educate him or do you think the poor lamb has worked it out yet?

I really don't think that Morgan's message to Jackett was to try to find worse players than we already had. I think that was Jackett's skill as a manager coming to the fore.

If you rule out all the players who aren't good enough, then rule out all the ones we can't afford and then rule out any we can afford and that are good enough but who are over 24 what are you left with? A very small pool of players to pick from. We should be open to signing anyone we think can make an impact not trying to make our job any more difficult than it is by our ridiculous ageism.

He couldn't bring himself to think that someone was just so fecked off reading his shat that he's been filtered

In the last away game Wallace played centrally in the first half and did nothing and was then moved to the left and did a lot better. So playing him on the left on Sunday was totally understandable even though it didn't work.

Last season we usually played Henry, McDonald, Price and Sako in midfield. This season we are playing Henry, McDonald, Price and AN Other.

Given that nobody we could pick in the club is going to be anywhere near as good as Sako, how can we possibly improve on last season by picking three the same and one worse

I am filtered as well

All for not rating Edwards

Never had GB down as a big girl, thought he was a bit tougher than that.

We all knew that whoever came in for Sako wouldn't be as good as Sako.

To have a chance this season we needed to bring in the best replacement possible and we had to improve in other areas.

What we have actually done is fail entirely to bring in Sako replacement (equivalent of assuming we'll never have another striker as good a Bully so we should never sign a striker again) and fail entirely to strengthen other areas.

Anyone with eyes in their head could tell before we kicked off that this squad was weaker than last seasons.

Kind of sums up my point though DJ.

Giving someone 45 minutes in a position before making your mind up makes no sense, surely he brought Wallace here with a plan on how to use him.

45 minutes here and there isn't gonna work for anybody.

posted on 19/10/15

But yes, we are weaker, we failed in the summer to even do a half competent job.

posted on 19/10/15

4 of the key players last season were Ikeme, Stearman, Sako and Dicko. They aren't in the team and the players that have replaced them aren't as good, so there's no footballing degree needed to see there's a problem.

We were never going to find a one for one replacement for Sako so we needed to strengthen across the midfield generally. I presume Kenny agreed and that's why he signed Coady, Wallace, Ojo and Byrne. But if any of those are better than what we already had then they are hiding it quite well so far.

Fairly sure he brought Rowe, Saville, Sagbo, Graham, Byrne, Ojo, Clarke, Coady and Byrne with a plan as to how to use them. Doesn't mean they ended up being good enough.

If you were really picking the best "10" at the club at the moment what have you seen that would have Wallace ahead of Edwards?

posted on 19/10/15

What I have seen is that we are supposed to be a passing side, one comfortable in possession.

Afobe was brought up in that style of football, I don't think a tens strength should be getting on the end of an occasional good cross, I think the ten should be dictating the entire teams tempo in attack.

Wallace for me will be that man if given the chance.
