They really are that institutionally racist.
Do black coaches really want to be interviewed just because they need to have one black candidate? Surely they'd rather be there on merit?
Picking a candidate to interview based on skin colour is exactly what they're trying to avoid, surely?
Or they know that otherwise they won't get the chance at all and so if put forward they will at least get the chance to speak.
Its stupid , should be based on merit
But it's not based on merit. That's the point.
Plenty of black managers have been given the chance in the EPL over the last year or so and they aren't still working there because they've been poor (Chris Ramsey at QPR).
I thought Hughton was hard-done by being sacked by Norwich, but it wasn't because he was black! Now he's top of the Championship after being given another chance at Brighton.
If one clubs gets only black candidates would they also be obliged to interview one white candidate? Solve racism by being racist. Good one!
It just gives them an opportunity to be interviewed.
What's wrong with that?
Councils guarantee an interview to people with disabilities.
If you had a white and black candidate who:
- Had very similar playing careers
- Had the same coaching badges
- Have coached at youth/reserve level
Basically they were equal but who would the chairman choose? My guess would be white.

What a stupid comment. Anyway, what if the chairman were black?
A black chairman? In England?
Yes there are loads of those throughout business!
Well there are Arab and Oriental chairman around.
I just thought we had moved on from the days of affirmative action. They had it in South Africa not sure they still do, but I remember it didn't work well in sports for them there rugby team had the best players not being selected as they had to pick players based on skin colour.
As usual when this topic surfaces, people make the same incorrect assumptions and interpretations.
Everyone who would be interviewing for the jobs will have to meet the minimum experience and skills requirements. The best person would get the job. No one would be given a job on anything other than merit.
The recruitment code is just common sense. A job would be advertised for all to apply for. Minimum skills and experience would be required. No problem there
The target for the FTSE 100 companies is to have 25% of women onbaord?
Now how many tea ladies do these places need?
I don't know about the situation with the managers in the UK and whether there is a bias towards white managers but if there is such measures could address that.
Someone mentioned SA rugby here but what they fail to see is that there is some slight bias towards white players and the worst bit is that it isn't conscious. Affirmative action may have tonnes of downsides but I can see the argument for those who advocate for to be implemented.
But it's not based on merit. That's the point**
Yes it is dont be so ridiculous
Because there are all these fantastic Black managers that are being turned down for jobs....
Lets see.... there's...Erm.....ooh what was his name......
Tired of this subject - when Jimmy Floyd takes Burton to the Championship/Premier League or moves to a bigger club it will be - ON MERIT

Yeah like Shearer and so on.
Who should I believe? The litany of black people saying they're not being given a chance of even an interview or some white man?
Hmm.

Because he's a good manager..........
The Alan Shearer quote is as silly as the subject
Paul Ince, Keith Curle etc, given plenty of manager roles and failed miserably in all of them

Its serious and funny. You should be given a job based on skills and ability, not a quota system

This article and the BBC story linked in the OP isn't about awarding jobs on a quota system though. Don't know why you would go down that avenue
Obviously this discussion is above you Arouna. You are displaying amazing ignorance.
What people fail to realise is that in case of a crisis chairmen was will go for the tried and tested which in this case is a white manager even though there MAY be a better option that isn't white. This is because there hasn't been enough managers that aren't white that have come through and proven themselves to be competent so chairmen are weary understandably I should add. Having affirmative action MAY help address such an issue as it will give black managers a chance to prove themselves, a chance they don't have now. In the long run English football will benefit from it.

I completely disagree - it will lead to clubs being pressured to employ Black managers so they are not accused of being racist - we both know what will happen if this idea goes ahead and it is still majority white managers that end up getting the nod and if Black managers are given roles and fail there will be accusations that there were not given enough time because they were black etc, I can see it coming a mile off
I've quoted Jimmy Floyd and no one has replied because he is a perfect example of a Black manager being given a chance and so far proving to be a massive success
