Black managers and coaches

So you can name four in total. Good stuff.**

I get the feeling you wouldnt be happy until 50 percent of managers were black and there was a rule in place to ensure that continued

Jimmy Floyd is leading the way, a good manager and a black manager

Yeah yeah going on like every white manager is like Fergie!

It just gives them an opportunity to be interviewed.

What's wrong with that?

Councils guarantee an interview to people with disabilities.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My first thoughts was that it would be wrong on so many levels for a 'token' black guy to get an interview, regardless of merit etc...

However looking at the bigger picture... If these guys aren't getting the interviews, then how else do you go about solving this problem?

Could any of the unemployed black managers could've done a better job than Sherwood at Aston Villa/Warnock at Crystal Palace/Various managers at Sunderland or Newcastle etc??

Its a tricky and somewhat touchy situation (for some on both sides of the fence) tbf

Not at all?

Dont try and widen the issue because you've ran out of things to say - I'm not getting dragged into an argument with you because you've got a chip on your shoulder about a lack of Black managers

posted on 30/10/15

Well someone's got a chip on their shoulder and it isn't me. When it's statistically and anecdotally noted that black people are not even getting to interview you take issue with them being given an opportunity to talk.

That's what you're doing.

Can you please stop trying to tell me what I'm doing and saying, its there for everyone to read you numpty.......some are getting to interview stage and some are getting roles, my concern with putting a rule in place to ensure that for every role a Black person must be given the opportunity to be interviewed for it will ultimately lead to people like your goodself then questioning the percentage of/lack of Black people that then go on to get the jobs and accusations will start that is down to racism.

Someone needs to have a word with the Burton, Brighton and QPR chairmen about this perceived bias that exists because they have obviously missed it

I honestly couldnt care less who managed my club, male, female, able bodied or not, skin colour absolutely irrelevant, the best person is the only criteria.

Yet you havent even managed to muster a reply to anything I've said - Jimmy Floyd is making your argument look silly and you know it.

I'll let the brotherhood carry on thinking the whole world is against them

Why is it only black managers that people care about?

What about Asian managers? Aren't many of those either.

Have they formed a huge part of the playing staff over the decades?

Well isn't that in itself a huge issue? Massively underrepresented considering there is a higher Asian population than Black population in England.

Also the England team is heavily biased towards black players and disproportionately so considering it's only 3.5% of the population.

Well no, not really, unless there are lots of asian people saying they are not being offered contracts based on the fact they are asian. Is that happening? No.

Furthermore to suggest that the England team is "biased" to black players is absurd. Are you suggesting that Theo Walcott and Sterling get games because they are black? Really?

What is happening is that there is a recognised framework of achievement to become qualified - coaching badges.

So the qualifications afford parity - you are qualified.

However the statistics and anecdotal evidence are saying that entry level managers who hold the exact same qualifications are not even getting interviews.

Why do Shearer, Sherwood, Giggs, Keane, etc, get to start at Championship and Premier league clubs whilst JFH and Ince have to start in league 2?

Brian Deane applied for over 50 roles and didn't even egt an interview despite holding the exact same or higher qualifications. He manages Sarpsborg 08.

Why?

_______________________

Biased was perhaps the wrong word as you couldn't glean what I meant from the context. I meant that the proportion of black players in the England set up is far higher than than the proportion of the English population that the Black community occupies.

Fact.

What's your point though?

Playing is about subjective ability. You can't do a QCF in playing football.

Having a qualification is having a qualification.
