Some of the most personality-devoid sportspeople have won this

posted on 11/12/15

All about who has the best video package on the show. Agree re Anderson and Root, criminally overlooked.

Expect Murray will win but personally would like to see Kevin Sinfield win it.

I hope Jess Ennis wins it purely for her tremendous back door.

all you have to do is Knobb your wifes sister and you will win.

Yep HRH and Andy M is set to carry that on

You can be so boring that paint watches you dry but if your achievements sets you apart from the rest then just by definition you have a personality.

I've always determined it as meaning the person who most leads sport and inspires more people to get involved in general, if that makes sense

For that reason Murray has to get it.

Sinfield should get some lifetime achievement award though.

Used to enjoy it but as the list of sports covered by the BBC diminish, the focus tends to be on the events they broadcast.

Also remember reading that the list of nominees are voted by the press, and not just the sports related media. For example the likes of Nuts (now closed) magazine had a vote!

Bit of an added interest this year as it’s being held just down the road from me so might tune in.

Yeah, just call it Sports Achievement of the Year or something. "Personality" would suggest people like Phil Tufnell and Jimmy Bullard should win it.

Hi Squid.

I would love to see that. Finally a SPOTY show worth watching

Think Ennis, Mo, or Fury should win though.

Wrongly named without doubt but I still enjoy it.

I don't agree with your argument that it's centred on live BBC sports, otherwise why would Fury feature? I'm a cricket fan and think it's fairly obvious why Root and especially Anderson weren;t picked - one swallow does not make a summer. Fantastic victory over the Aussies sure, but this is not the formidable Aussies of old. We've also gone on to lose test series' to Pakistan and draw with West Indies and New Zealand. Probably best to not even mention the Cricket World Cup!

Each of the nominees are either World Champions in their sports or from teams where their contributions lead to success/previously unseen achievement e.g. Bronze.

Many prefer the conspiracy angle but there's none to be seen here.

Can I ask who you think should've been there and who you'd take out to fit them in Squid?

I actually think Andy Murray has a fantastic personality and isn't dull.

That being said, it is a stupid award that makes no sense.

There are too many awards for people who do a job most people can only dream about.

Or who don't do much of a job most people can only dream about in some cases. I remember when Rusedski won for losing in a final. . And who can forget Giggs?
