See now, maybe what would’ve made the scene better was Leia standing by Luke when Ben dies.
And they both shout noooo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The scene made perfectly good sense until this Obi Wan tv Show.

Another example is the emperors death in ROTJ. It was a perfect ending to the originals and it was made even more perfect after the prequels. Then come along the sequels and now we know the Emperor wasn't actually dead at all.

The sequels aren't canon for me, so their effects on the continuity are irrelevant but for those who do consider them canon, it creates all sorts of complications.

Before the Obi Wan show, Leia didn't know Kenobi.

The scene in New Hope clearly shows this. She says:

"General Kenobi. Years ago you served my father in the Clone Wars. Now he begs you to help him in his struggle against the Empire. I regret that I am unable to present my father's request to you in person, but my ship has fallen under attack, and I'm afraid my mission to bring you to Alderaan has failed. I have placed information vital to the survival of the Rebellion into the memory systems of this R2 unit. My father will know how to retrieve it. You must see this droid safely delivered to him on Alderaan. This is our most desperate hour. Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope."

There is no other recollection of them having a relationship and Obi Wan's reaction to seeing the message isn't one of recognition. He didn't know her but he knew her father.

Another example is when she is consoling Luke on the falcon after Obi Wans death. The only emotion she showed was compassion for Luke, there was no feeling towards Obi Wan.

This^.

So, basically we on a collision course for foolishness, if they don’t somehow explain this.

It’s as Guv says, the more adventures, situations they get into, the idea that she doesn’t know who Kenobi is becomes a bit of a stretch.
In fact, it’s safe to say, maybe we’ve already reached that point.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I personally think we have reached that point.

Leia has been through too much with Obi Wan already, that it would seem inconceivable that she would somehow forget this whole experience. Unless some sort of force memory wipe is put on her.

I'm also uncomfortable with Leia being so close to Vader in these moments. I don't think he would ever be able to sense her but surely they've told Vader that Obi Wan is protecting the girl and why would Vader not use Leia in the future, to lure Obi Wan out.

People take fantasy films to seriously

I haven't even begun scratching the surface on this either

The emperor is without a doubt watching and overseeing everything that is happening. Vader reports to him and this isn't something he's leave off his weekly review email. I'm somewhat amenable to these events getting past Vader but it wouldn't go unnoticed by the Emperor.

Despite my gripes, I'm still enjoying the show but I just can't ignore basic errors with continuity. I'm fine with them trying new things and introducing new characters but just make it all tie.

Guv, I know what you’re saying. But at some point, they are gonna have to jump back to present day/ future, and will have to refer back to them.
It’s not lost on me, that we are suddenly getting prequel after prequel projects, to try to get us back onside.

And we’ve embraced them, cos I didn’t think they could screw that up. So many good stories can still be told within the prequels. But suddenly..

Solo was named by an Imperial officer at check-in
Boba Fett’s legacy has been tarnished.
Confusion about Leia’s connection to Kenobi
And as of now Grand Inquisitor confusion.

But, 3 Eps left, they still got time. Gotta let it play out.

If the original trilogy was released now, it would be a woke, female empowered movie. Luke would be played by a mexican, Han would be an african american and Leia would be a member of the LGBTQ.

That's why I want them to go far back into the past. Leave the skywalker era alone. Let's play in a new sandbox.

Dude was friends with Anakin Skywalker and then shot by Han. If it was real people would write a biography about him so why not delve into that

If they got released now, they simply wouldn't be good movies.

The sequels are a perfect example of having the modern day technology and knowledge but still not being able to construct good stories.

The originals worked not only because of the time and era but because it was a space adventure that had everything. It has romance, action, humour and most of all, it had 3 great lead characters who has terrific chemistry and a director that had a passion for the story he was telling.

The sequels was a money grab. The prequels were too but they had some great moments and they fit the story.

Hmm.. I dunno. It’s such a fantastic universe.
But you got to remember, nobody had seen a film like this before. You have the raw charm of the actors just going for it, not knowing anything about the world they were building. The Effects. The Music.

Today we are spoilt for choice. So maybe it’s harder for someone to create magic in a bottle like that.

Man, you see something like Arcane, you know if that came out say, in the 90’s, I think that would’ve been a monster hit. It’s stunning.

I think it was obvious that George got carried away with the prequels and probably bought into his own hype.

I feel George was a lot more passionate during the originals but he wasn't weighed down by his ego. He allowed Irvin Kershner to direct episode 5 and Richard Marquand episode 6 and he was happy to oversee the story aspects.
