Well yeah it's stupid of him but I guess they had an idea for the last episode and this was a plot device to make that happen. Doesn't necessarily have to be a huge continuity error depending on what happens

Although if the leaks about the rewritten ending are true then it would be a continuity error

I'm still not ruling out her being a 'fake' decoy Leia or it all being a dream. Who knows with this show at this point.

*******************SPOILERS*******************

Episode 5:
Pros:
-Anakin/obi wan flashbacks(they could have deaged Hayden but it's a minor gripe)
-Vader displaying his power and skill
-Grand Inquisitor plot hole is now covered
-Action scenes were better although not on the prequels level
-Reva getting destroyed by Vader
-Seeing Obi Wan finally regain his confidence and leadership skills
-Talas death was a nice end to her character

Cons:
-Music is non existent
-Stormtroopers are at their finest in this episode. They were missing from point blank range.
-Leia to the rescue again. Since when did she become an engineer?
-Leias robot. I thought it was just a tracker but they seemed to mind control it.
-I predicted Reva would flip so it felt flat.
-Bails message to obi wan. Why not just post the coordinates to Vader himself?
-The order 66 flash back looked corny
-Visual production looked very tv.
-The ship trick they pulled on Vader was lame.

Overall an 8. Less continuity issues, improved writing, finally seeing flashbacks of Hayden and seeing that battle play out in real time between Vader and Obi Wan, worked very well. Vader pulling that ship down and ripping it apart was glorious.

The ending with Reva finding Bails message could be problematic but it could also be solved in episode 6. Reva cannot live after this season.

I was actually laughing at this point. This must be intentional Space Balls style humour by Disney at this point right ?

see I thought that way back when they put in the whole barrier in the middle of a desert bit..... I thought that had to be a one off bit of trolling Even said on here) , but this sorta stuff seems to happens a few times per episode at least that I cant brush it off as that anymore.

it wasnt as bad as the prev episodes no way, but I think the low level of the previous episodes has inflated peoples opinions on this one a little.

for me it was above average, some good parts try to bring the score up but the pure idiocy moments are just too frequent.

The writer of this show has tried so hard to make this Leia and Reva important parts of the OB1 vs Darth battle. And in turn actually created two characters that I have hated the entire series

In fairness doing that reveals exactly where Reva is and OB1 has a lightsabre too so at best that's a high risk strategy. She did it because she got angry, when thinking clearly blasting the doors is the safer route.

I seem to say this a lot in these wash-up chats but I really didn't have a problem with that bit.

could have just given the sabre to a grunt and told them to open it then ! if they had written it so that OB1 made her so emotional that produced explosion of a force power and opened it would have made far far more sense, been more dramatic and sold the shot.

see the problem is people like you and I (and around 90%) of the people on this very thread can think out the box and be more creative than someone getting millions to do it ..... its fecking amateur writing at best man. so lazy, un imaginative, and it has just pi$$ed me right off.

the real sad part is .... regardless how bad it is I still watch it. Im part of the problem !!

ps naby i dont have a problem with it now cos like you said these sort of poor writing moments happen at least a few times per episode. one an episode i can deal with but time and time again there is scenes that I seriously would like to hear what Ewan MacGregor's brain is saying to him when he needs to act it out

posted on 17/6/22

again its not deal breaker scenes but it does highlight how poor the writing is.

I've rewatched the Vader pulling down the ship scene and I can't see a second ship anywhere. It just magically appears after the first ship is brought down. Unless I'm missing something.

yeah i thought that... when the first ship is in the air I couldnt see the other ship either at any point.... however the force grab and ripping the hull is very satisfying

I agree with much of that, my main gripe was Leia to the rescue and the control of her droid. Just didn't need to be that way.

I know people will disagree with this but I thought Vader v's Reva was one of the best sabre battles in SW. Just because it really demonstrated the power and control of Vader. If this series has done nothing else, it's visually communicated the strength and power of Vader.

I really enjoyed the OB1 & Anakin flash backs and the underlying theme that for all Vader's power, his failings now are the same as when he was a Padawan. He hasn't learnt - just got more powerful.

I can't agree on the Reva flip. Yeah we all knew it was coming but I thought it was excellently done. OB1 putting the pieces together of who she was. I was glad she didn't join him, wouldn't have fitted the character. Loved her anger at OB1, playing on his guilt - where were you, he was your padawan, you were supposed to protect us. Very nicely done imo. Also the clash, or at least questioning, of desires - the dark side character wanting Vader dead but questioning whether the light side character really did. Finally, really liked OB1's force push on Reva when the doors opened. That was a real, 'he's back' moment for me and a slightly putting Reva in her place.

I'm not sure where the final episode is going but I personally enjoyed the final scenes as well. Ewan McGregor is a great actor and what I got from those final scenes was a change in OB1's demeanour - Luke is under threat, this is the task Yoda gave him. There seemed to be steel in his eyes, no more Mr Nice OB1 - this isn't about escape or hiding anymore; this is about defending what is important. He'll do what he must...
