well he took up the name Old Ben Kenobi for that very reason. If she was dodging around giving anything away she kinda ruined that all by using his Jedi universally famous name !!

I'd see it as using the name her father knew him under and pretending there's no personal knowledge or connection with him apart from what she's been told.

again if they were aware of each other and knew who they were Im certain they would have icognito names to use.

but if she was "pretending" it wouldnt matter it would still draw the attention that they would wanna avoid. The dont need to avoid letting people know that they know each other, they need no-one to know that OB1 is still alive and possibly on Tattooine !! thats my take it on it anyway

But that wouldn't have made any sense in the original films, plus they weren't written for that storyline anyway. Lucas changed his mind from film to film and people don't mind it but this one little thing of her using OB1 vs Ben or them not having codenames is a huge continuity thing for you?

I dunno, I have problems with the show but I think some of the stuff people moan about is OTT

Reckless move by a desperate 19 year old who was just being captured by the Empire, reaching out to the person who rescued her last time she got captured by them. Don't think that logic is clutching at straws too much.

Plus if she's following the teachings of her father then it's no wonder she's sending loose messages to him

At no point during any of the originals is there any hint of a prev relationship between OB1 and Leia ... not that I can remember.

people are clutching at straws trying to explain the mistakes made by OB1 IMO.

I just cant see any logical reason for using his name, Leia is a smart cookie, she woulda been more than aware of the situation.

Yeah if we're talking alias' that should have been sorted by Bail and OB1 long before Leia got involved and should have been much better

well it did ... no one on tattoine knew other than Owen and or his wife (cant mind her name) or we are led to believe that

I think it's quite obvious that she didn't know him. If we put the message from R2 aside, her reaction to Obi Wans death and him fighting Vader is complete indifference. She consoles Luke for his loss. She's not even slightly moved by it.

I just see it as people would know he's going by Ben Kenobi now, so if she uses that name in the message it would suggest that she's got some personal connection to him. So by using the Jedi name her father knew him under, that implies she's just shooting her shot to a stranger without actually knowing for sure if he's alive or whatever, which gives her a better chance in an interrogation.

yeah good point

Yeah the death scene is where it's hard to justify. She probably wasn't that phased by seeing him fight Vader as she'd seen him do stuff she can't understand so maybe thinks he's gonna be okay, but showing no reaction to his death would suggest they don't know each other at all.

Yea but it’s literally one of the most stupid bits of Star Wars from the OG films people don’t mind looking over yet go hard on anything and everything on everything since.

I also have a feeling Reva is going to live, which would make the OB1 and Leia connection even more stupid with such a loose cannon out there knowing about it and the importance of Tatooine. God I hope I'm wrong or else it would make the finale fall flat on it's face.

Owen killing her and protecting Luke would further enhance his conflict with Obi Wan. It would actually make the continuity stronger, something this show has failed to accomplish.

Well this is DSW and only female characters are allowed to shine unless it's Vader. So don't rule it out by any means.

And when that show fails it will be because we're all racists, not because Disney failed to create something good. It's all our fault you see.

Yeh as Guv said, that makes sense.
And I remember the Director saying Great things about him. So maybe that’s where they are going with it.

But what about Vader, how does he fit in?
