I’d love a proper version of clone wars though

It's called The Clone Wars animated series.

I have 0 excitement for Andor. I found the character to be dull in Rogue one and it's set between episode 3 and 4, so I expect more continuity issues.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Honestly what would make you happy
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Going by the trailer, it looks like they have filmed this very well. So, deffo gonna give it a chance.
But his character, wasn’t that memorable was it… so, maybe his chance to retcon that.

Don’t think they got anything to lose with this show.

But on Rogue One, I still think they got it slightly wrong.
Im sure the live camera from Return of the Jedi, about the plans for Death Star 2. Not the 1st one.

Now, we didn’t know how they got the plans for Death Star 1, until Rogue one. But we’re there any Bothans?
No?
We need to see that story told.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You'll watch Andor but are you excited for it?

No… honestly can’t say I am…
And Obi-Wan has been a kick to the nuts, which I wasn’t expecting.
So, hoping to be pleasantly surprised. By a character I don’t care about

I have enjoyed it personally and think a lot of the criticism is a little daft.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I really don’t think you can accuse people of being daft when the shortfalls of the show are pretty obvious.

Star Wars had arguably the biggest fandom in pop culture - now likely behind Marvel and the prequel generation are a huge cohort of people across the globe.

In the last 7 years, Disney had the chance to make a follow up to Return of the Jedi and made a shockingly poor trilogy and not once did we even see the original 3 back together. It’s unforgivable really.

Now they’ve had another golden ticket - the return of Ewan McGregor, who was the best part of the prequels on the general consensus. But what have they done with this chance … absolutely nothing. It’s a total non-story with no potential dangers, embarrassing writing and cheap production value.

The criticism isn’t daft, it’s totally justified and time won’t be kind to it either.

I think in general, the criticism has been fair and constructive. Some of us have been overly picky with certain scenes but I think it's a byproduct of other more overt flaws in the story and writing.

If someone likes the show, fair enough, because there are people that still defend and enjoy the sequels too, but for me, I don't envisage myself ever watching the show back.

Did you know, the last 2 Eps of Stranger Things will be longer than the whole of Kenobi?

The production and writing obliterate this show.

Kath Kennedy should hang her head in shame.
Give the Duffer Bros a Star Wars project. Let’s go.

I think most of it is fine to be critical about, but I think that because such fundamental things have been tampered with it has put people's backs up to the point they're overly critical about other things and have become the antithesis to those who will defend the sequels.

I know there’s Last Jedi lovers out there. And that’s fine.
I’ll never go toxic on anyone for a different opinion on film. Morbius(cough)
But they should be open minded about the criticism.
It’s not just Boomers and Gen X that are critical as some would want you to believe.

But I haven’t heard anyone really come out and say they love the sequels. I don’t think time will be kind to these films like it has the Prequels.

Don't get me wrong guys, I think some of the criticisms are just. No doubt the production seems a little 'cheap' and some of the story building is mediocre but I do think when watching some of the videos about the show etc that some of the complaints are just pretty daft.

Lets be honest, Star Wars has never exactly been a masterclass in script writing or story telling for the most part.

Cinci

What complaints have you seen, that you consider to be daft?

Disagree on the story telling. Cheesy scripts have always been there, sure. But the story of the Skywalker family, about families in general, the force, the Jedi, the Sith, redemption, forgiveness, growth, joy, despair and of course…..HOPE

All through the great story telling that is the world of Star Wars pre-Disney.

Well well well. That’s it. It’s finally over.
A lot to mull over here. I’ve been sitting here for 45 mins writing then deleting. Cos I’m writing an essay.

Right now I’m struggling between 7-8/10.
And it is the best Ep of the lot. But as I said, a lot to mull over.
Some really really good stuff in there. And then some odd directorial choices.
But I will say this, this is the first time it doesn’t look cheap. Another conflicting Ep.
I’ll leave it at that. Cos I won’t stop otherwise.

Best episode of the series? That'll do.

I'm just pleased you're not incandescent with rage!

An 8/10 stringer?

I'll take that.

Sounds like they saved their budget until this final episode too

What’s a head scratcher is that it’s the most Star Warsy of all the Eps. I don’t know why suddenly the production feels, looks, Sounds different!!
Why wasn’t it like this throughout?

it’s a mixture of great stuff. And then stuff that, can I just brush off, I dunno.... only a spoiler chat will rectify that.
it’s a short Ep at 45 mins, and you can feel the rush, right from the opening. And as a result creative liberties are taken.
But yeh on that scale I am nearer to 8/10.
But that’s cos I’m still at the emotional state.
And boy, it is that.
need to watch again. some of the moments in this, is definitely some of the best Live action for Star Wars Disney+ yet.

On the overall scale, well, different story, but we will get to that later.
The analogy I’d use, is that of a 10,000 metre distance runner, whose been last all race, then on the last lap, goes for it, but just finishes short.

You’re like, man, you had it in you all this time, why?

One of my other chat groups said it was an emotional episode as well.

Have to say, I'm (again) disappointed with 45 mins but it is what it is. Looking forward to watching it tonight now.

Mostly Good.

Look there are gripes with this Ep, and I know what’s gonna happen when I rewatch it. They will stand out to me.
But nothing has changed, The Director dropped the ball. And the writers, are hacks.
The show should’ve been great. And you can see it in this Ep. It was there.

just watched it on my lunch break there..I enjoyed it , yes ther is flaws its far from perfect but the highlight of the episode section was done pretty well minus one typical exception that has been repeated far too often now.
Still enjoyed it, 100% felt like SW. And some of the scenes shot are damn good.

cant score it til I give it a proper watch later tonight, goin to see topgun after work though so will need to wait !

Ok from what I have heard, I am now actually excited for the episode.
