I really should watch it again. It made no impression on me first time around. Maybe I was drunk. Or fell asleep during it. Or both?
Early release from work. Giving TLJ a whirl again.

Much the same as before. The good bits are really good, the bad really bad.
Luke was awesome yet at times his comedy was poor.
Poe is totally out of place in that universe.
Finn was wasted.
Leia should've died
The ATATs are fantastic.
Kylo is really quite good.
Snoke could've been so much more.
Hux has weirdly turned into comic relief for no apparent reason.
Frustrating
I watched it again the other day, i still really enjoyed it. The second film in a franchise is often not regarded that highly until the third is out.
Empire strikes back was panned on release, yet is now regarded as the greatest Star Wars film of all time. If the third in this trilogy comes out and we see a lot of pay off for what happened in this one and how it all ties together then it will likely be viewed as better. Although i get people’s criticism that it should be able to stand on its own two legs as a good film. I personally thought it was but get some of the criticism people have.
Still loved Luke in it as well.

See it’s interesting you have it level with TFA and the majority seem to prefer it to TLJ.
For me it’s the same as manfrom feels about Logan, it just isn’t that memorable. The first time i watched it i had that Star Wars buzz but after watching it again i found it a tad boring, sure there were a few cool moments but for the most part i find it a bit eh. It was very safe.
Maybe that’s why i preferred TLJ, I thought it was the opposite of safe and made some bold choices, some paid off and some didn’t. But having watched it a few times i still find it exciting and entertaining, i don’t feel that way about TFA.

Trailer was flat for me. What is there to be excited about? The most intriguing thing is hoping that the new actors not ruin the originals legacy, for both Han and Lando.
Trailer looks ok.. hoping they make a good film here.
come on, bring it home!!

From what I've, most people preferred the safe FA to the divisive TLJ. Those that has issues with FA were able to placate their concerns whilst TLJ's issues seem to have deeply tarnished some fans opinion of this new trilogy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think that's a very fair comment and a nice summary. I didn't love FA but it was comfortable as a SW film and an easy watch. Like sitting down to watch a film you've seen a dozen times before. Nothing new or hugely exciting but enjoyable nevertheless.
And unfortunately for me, the issues I have with TLJ have tarnished the new trilogy for me. They made Poe a hapless moron, made Rey utterly uninteresting, made Finn a coward and put him on some pointless planet, wasted Snoke, had Luke milking space cows and, worst of all, had me rooting for the character who killed Han Solo! I just have no idea how episode 9 will save it (for me).
Saw the new Solo trailer today as well. Feels a little bit more like Rogue One in tone which could be a good thing. The only issue I had with R1 was that none of the characters were that likeable, if Solo could retain the tone and feel of R1 but with Han, Chewie, Lando etc - it could be magic.

New solo trailer was released last night. Looks better than the first teaser and it actually has raised my interest. I'm still not sure about Alden as Han Solo but the rest of this movie could be entertaining and Lando is the uncrowned star from what I have seen thus far. Funnily enough, it doesn't feel like a star wars movie but it still works.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Visually looks stunning but Alden Ehrenreich doesn’t work for me as solo.
Chewie as good as ever though
They made Poe a hapless moron
Yup.
made Rey utterly uninteresting
Half a yup
made Finn a coward
Yup
wasted Snoke
Yup
had Luke milking space cows
yup
And lets not forget that TLJ turned Hux into some sort of Three Stooges slapstick moron.

Just be happy they didn't make Han Solo a black woman.
