There's one rumour doing the rounds at the moment with Regards to Reys lineage and it's not the popular 'Luke's daughter' theory which may I add, would be fantastic as Episode IX would probably see Luke's daughter vs Leias son. Crazy right!
Now, those who followed the production closely were probably aware that the writers/producers were toying around with the idea of Kenobi relation.
Let's take this further. We know what for the best part of 20 years, old Ben was off the radar on Tatooine. There's a gap in his history.
So, a scenario to be considered... What if Luke takes in Obi-Wans granddaughter and watches over her, just as Old Ben has done for Luke.
When the whole mess with Ben Solo goes down, Luke is left no choice but to stash Rey on a backwater planet while he goes in exile to keep her safe from the imminent threat that is his failed apprentice.
This would kind of explain the look on Lukes face at the end of the film. It's an unsure expression, a comprehending expression - one that he himself can relate to. Luke is seeing his life looping back in on him.
Remember, It was a Kenobi that handed Luke Anakins lightsabre in A New Hope. Is this history repeating itself?
What about the accent? Is this the accent of a Skywalker or a Kenobi?
Ok, now this is where it gets really interesting. Reys first line in the film is an alien language to scare away someone from a droid (same as Old Ben)
She uses a Jedi mind trick on a Stormtrooper (the first of the new trilogy) - and of course, we all know who provided the first Jedi mind trick of the original trilogy (and on a Stormtrooper).
It gets deeper. In Reys flashback, you hear Obi-wan talking (Ewan McGregors voice) - the voice says "Rey.. These are your first steps" which is very similar to what Obi-Wan tells Luke in the OT ("you've taken your first step into a larger world).
Could JJ have pulled off the greatest Bait and switch in the modern cinematic era? Who knows... All very interesting though.
Reys powers were vastly exaggerated in the movie I felt. She beat an experienced jedi in Renn? She deflected his mind control? She fooled a storm trooper? All this without having any training?
-----
That's an assumption. The fact that she has a force vision tells us that she's strong in the force - probably stronger than Kylo, hence why his mind control failed.
The vision implies that she was left on Jakku at a young age. What happened in those earlier years? Was she at Luke's temple?
Also, she's very competent with the staff. It's safe to assume that she's thought for her food for years.
Lastly, Ren was injured by Chewies crossbow.
With all that under consideration, it's more than plausible that she would hold her own.
Kylo was an emotional wreck whilst Rey on several occasions showed that through calmness, she has almost full control of the force.
With regards to Hux - I'm aware this isn't Vader and the Empire but that doesn't refute my point that his aggression was ill-placed and out of sync with everything in the movie.

True - Yoda does say that.
But then, merely having the force doesn't make you a Jedi so the statement would be true regardless of Obi-Wans bedroom antics on Tattoine or for Clone Wars fans out there... Mandalore

Not really guv, as we know the secret to a good force user is concentration.
So we have already established that Renn is an unstable emotional wreck, who even when killing his father was uncertain where he is and what exactly he is doing, added being shot, it could be far worse than what we know, he could be on the verge of his power.
And the flash backs suggest he wasnt alone when killing the other students, he was flanked by either other students, or in a very anakinesque way has he been with the empire prior to this betrayal?
So although he catches a blaster bolt this doesnt necessarily mean anything regarding his power.
Also as already stated in the previous films both Yoda and Obi were able to hide due to their location this surely means that others can hide meaning Obis grandchild is certainly a possibility, although i think its more likely to be lukes brat, but why wouldnt han and leia known?

A few questions for you all:
Is Renn a sith apprentice or a dark jedi?
Is Snoke a sith lord or just sith?
Where and how did Renn locate Vaders helmet?
Why didn't any one mourn Han Solo?
Will we see the sith planet korriban in this trilogy?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Best guesses are:
He is an apprentice - hence Snorke says he will finish his training
Based on the above logic you would assume Snorke us a Sith Lord since he was able to become the head of the Order.
Helmet im guessing someone (either luke or leia) collected the ashes (did you see where Renn kept his helmet) from the Ewok fire. Mught even be that Luke at an alter to Anakin as a reminder you xan come back from the darkside.
Yeh dont know why people werent sadder when Han died, again maybe a throw back to a new hope. As noone really mourns Ben. Maybe its not the Wookie way?
Abd no Sith planet......you know the rules Guv it never existed
Why didn't any one mourn Han Solo?
------
Yes - I must admit, I was disappointed when Chewie walked past Leia. I was anticipating Leia to put a hand on Chewies arm or some gesture of mourning but no, they just walked right past eachother.
Opportunity missed for sure.
Hmmm, I noticed something in a couple articles I avoided and now catching up with... Again just my foolish mind wandering around....
But what if.... What if, Rey was the pupil that flipped out on Luke and the academy.
And that her family disowned her, leaving her in the wastelands of Jakku, and that Kylo being the wannabe Sith, took credit.
There's no-one to disprove it, as Luke has vanished.
And everyone else dead.
The Killing of Han, was Kylo fighting against the light-side, as he's still so desperate to be dark.
Failing that idea, it could be that, where the Originals were focused on a farm boy becoming a Hero.
Now we have a dude becoming a full-fledged villain.
Just like Luke in Empire, his training wasn't complete, he rushed off to fight his father, got heavily scarred and lost Solo in the process.
Kylo's training isn't complete, he's been rushed into battle incomplete. Gets heavily scarred/injured.
Loses Solo in the process.*
Not just in Hans death, but Kylo wanting nothing to do with that name.
*admittedly he's the cause of why we lose Solo.
Mirroring..... There's a lot of that in this Franchise.
Anyhow, whatever it is, Episode 8 can't get here quick enough....

just read Metro's post there, and yes, i'm thinking she's related to Kenobi... and your reasoning is well put.
i'lll check back with you in 2017...
interesting, that Disney have released 3 stories on Finn/Rey and Poe, and wouldn't you know it.
there's no backstory for Rey!!
mystery deepens... it's all about a day in the life of Rey, whereas, we see the events that lead to TFA for Finn and Rey.
Finn being a promising Stormtrooper, who Capt. Phasma likes and tells Hux he's a future leader, but he has a conscience... doesn't have the ruthless streak in him.
They keep testing him, but his moral dilemma gets in the way, and they give him a last chance to redeem himself, and send him with a regiment to Jakku, to raid a village.
Poe- we learn about his Mum and dad. Mum is a Rebel A-wing pilot. Dad is a ground troop.
in her off time, she takes the young poe for flights in her A-wing. She passes away, when he is 8, and he goes on to learn to be the best damn pilot around, who is now very much respected but no one listens to his warnings of the threat of the First order,... that is until he meets Leia who believes in him, and they find out, that there's a guy on Jakku who has the missing piece of info on the whereabouts of Luke, and is sent with his Droid to recover this information, little do they know, that the First Order are aware of this as well....
now starts The Force Awakens...
made a typo, on the second Para, i meant ...Events that lead to TFA for Finn and Poe..

on another note a friend of mine in the Finn is a Jedi camp pointed out that Renn and Snorke felt "the awakening" of the force only after Finn does something and not Rey.
Also why is Finn more resistant to the form of brain washing used to make storm troopers, we know he was taken young and i believe it was mentioned in the film only Finn has ever defected.
Finn didn't display any Force Sensitive signs...
I'm not so sure he is a Jedi of any kind.
But can see him becoming a Rebel leader of some kind....
What did Finn do to make them think he's a Jedi?

Well timing would suggest more than Rey.
