Thrawn seemed to be exactly how he was in the Zahn trilogy. ice cool and just the smartest person in the room. Loved the entrance as well.

I liked his entrance but I need to see and hear more, before I am able to confidently say how he fares with the books. We haven't seen him do anything smart or devious yet.

Agreed but he’s already using people to get what he wants - he used Sabine to find Ezra but also to get Baylan and Shin out of the way. He clearly doesn’t trust Baylan because of his jedi (flawed) background so he’s removed him from their key mission of escape.
Possible scenario - Thrawn and the witches escape, Baylan has to work with Ahsoka to find a way back for the rest of them. Baylan somehow sacrifices himself (we know that sadly he’s not going to be in S2) for the escape, maybe opens Shin up to the MJ character? And builds the Shin - Sabine rivalry.

Unfortunately Ray passed… but I think they should recast, and keep Baylon for a while longer, that would be a tribute to Ray. Rather than One season.

I think recasting would dishonour Ray's performances. Let the character play out his arc and cement himself as one of the more interesting characters in SW. That unique position should be kept for Ray.

The idea that a viewer doesn’t need prior (rebels and CW) knowledge is getting more ridiculous by the episode. My wife has no idea what’s going on!
The ysalamiri need to be introduced at some point, as this would give Thrawn a way to neutralise any force users.
How about a Ysalamiri doomsday type of creature? It could go toe to toe with the force users and neutralise their force abilities.

Don’t know why he has to be missing, or why nobody is referring to him.
All I can think of is Money. That Seb we saw was effects wise, on the money. Must’ve cost a bit to do.
But it’s Disney, no excuse. Zeb should be there.
So what we thinking…. Actually I don’t know what to think.
People saying Shin is gonna turn full heel.. maybe she betrays Baylon. I disagree Guv, i see it as, Ray has brought life to a very interesting character.
If he gets killed off, then so be it, but I think it would be a shame.

We are thinking Baylon dies but i don't think he will yet. They didn't plan on Ray dying did they when filming.
Shin seems to be questioning Baylon not necessarily keeping his word, but he has good answers for her. She didn't seem to think much of Thrawn, I'd be more inclined to think she ended up on Rebels side hoping to rebuild the Jedi rather than trying to wipe them out.
I'm sure Baylon and Shin are also smart enough to know that they're on Thrawns mission with him hoping that they don't make it back to him.
Yeh honestly not expecting.....well anything too exciting in the next couple of episodes, and when I mean exciting I am talking about like some big plot deaths etc. This is clearly the lead in to the next phase of Dave's Mandoverse and the return of Thrawn/Ezra/Witches was the big takeaway from this series. Pretty sure Rays character was in this for the long run too, so don't expect to see well any of the important characters dying - I do feel ultimately this will mean recasting Babylon as the character has a very unique perspective and sure this was gonna run parallel with the other stuff across multi seasons/series

Yeah from early on you could tell from the pacing that this was intended to be part of a bigger story. I think the main thing we need is something that really showcases Thrawns intelligence and strategical mind so people have some idea of his threat level. At the moment to the casual viewer he doesn't seem like anything the New Republic shouldn't be able to stomp out
