Nice one Guv.
Of course, Rey did a Tony Stark. ‘I am Iron Jedi’
But lived to tell the tale.. but does she get a fair shake now we know she is a Palpatine?

Now as great as it was to see Wedge Antilles, what I saw was Dennis Lawson, sitting in a chair PHONING it in.. why isn’t he wearing a helmet, was he even in costume?
Oh yeh, what the deuce was Kylo wearing at the end. Did Kennedy fire Wardrobe?

Lando was fine, although I was saying stop smiling Billy, this ain’t an episode of ‘Friends’ celebrity guest of the week... you know, when the door swing opens, ‘oh hi’ (crowd starts screaming ‘it’s him! It’s him!) but he settled down.
Although his chuckling in the Falcon when comrades were getting killed was a little off base, but still Billy comes out of this mess without a scratch.

I mean screw it JJ, you might as well brought back Phasma for the end. That might have helped Finn a bit.
Why not?

Can someone tell me for sure if Rey Flew into the Falcon?.. I swear she flew..

Didn’t Kylo say in TLJ, doing this Force connect could kill them. Guess Broadband speeds got faster...
but the moment Kylo got wet hands in TLJ, you know anything was possible.

Sure, Lando was just fan service.

Ok, fair enough about Rey, and maybe she learnt it from Leia I guess, but why couldn’t she rescue everyone from the quicksand?
She can lift rocks and pull a ship in mid air...

Wait a cockin pickin minute, surely this doesn’t work right, unless i’m wrong.
You say grave danger right, then what da fook is happening when she meets Snoke in TLJ?
Surely that was it, he had her right there right?
Snoke was Palpatine right?

So in Ep 9, we start with Ren being tasked to go get Rey!!?

Am I missing something?

Man, Disney have truly ruined this franchise haven’t they? That was an absolute poverty film. How many fecking fight scenes in the first half hour between Rey and Ren? And they let each other run off Scott free in each fight despite promising to kill one another the minute they set eyes?

The banter was absolutely pants as well, some of it was forced and made parts of the scenes look awkward too. I’ve got so much more to say but this didn’t feel like a Star Wars film. The feck is Palpatine being resurrected randomly for? And since when did he even have family? Feck off Disney.

What the absolute fack is Merry from LOTR doing in this film too??

He’s a UTD fan, leave him be...
What was his name again?..

Wait a minute, did someone say this already?, Palps asked Rey to kill him, she did.
Sooo, Rey should be possessed right?.

I have to see this film again don’t I.
ok ok, i’ll take one for the team...

I asked the exact same question myself, that’s how much of an mess this movie is. The continuity is just so bad.

The only solution I can think of is Palpatine sort of died by his own powers, it wasn’t Rey that struck him down with the saber so that means she doesn’t inherit the sith off him. Feck knows, this film needs to hit the bin. And I spent £30 to watch it.

Sooo, who created the First Order?
and what was Palps waiting for all this time?
and who the hell was his son?
I wonder if that was a ploy for a Disney+ show, you know, the adventures of Reys parents running from Palpatine.
Film it like 24. we'll swap the countdown sound effect with the Death Star alarm.

The Mandalorian star Jake Cannavale has heavily criticised Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in a furious Instagram rant:

"Rise of Skywalker was hands down the worst Star Wars movie. An absolute f***ing failure. Went to see it last night and I woke up still mad. Like... it rendered the entire new trilogy completely useless.

"There were more plot holes than there was plot. The amount of 'by the ways' was absolutely infuriating. Rise of Skywalker (btw dumbass title) was worse than Phantom Menace AND Last Jedi combined. Fight me."

Even Disney Star Wars actors can't hide their disdain for this movie

Just seen the film, my thoughts....

After the absolute tragedy and disgrace that was The Last Jedi I went into this film with zero expectations and have avoided Star Wars for the best part of 2 years.

But I have to say I quite enjoyed TROS. It was not a perfect film by any means, and a lot of the criticism I've read of this thread is fair, but given what JJ had at his disposal I thought he gave it more than a fair crack. Managed to undo much of the damage Rian Johnson had done while also giving the saga a satisfying conclusion.

Rey, Finn, Poe, Leia, Lando and Palpatine I thought all were good, the chemistry on the screen was there and new characters all fitted into the plot well and were good additions. Personal highlight for me was Leia only becoming one with the force when Ben died - thought that was a nice touch

Will give two ratings, the first as a standalone film and the second in the context on the whole triology:

As a standalone I'd give it a 7. In the context of the trilogy given what JJ inherited I'd give it a 9

Satisfying conclusion?

6 movies about Anakins journey from child to Jedi to Vader to redemption, saving the galaxy from the empire. Nope, undone with 3 words of a scrawl. Redemption p!ssed all over.

And what was the emperors plan exactly? Wants Rey dead, but no, he actually wants her to kill him so he can become super sith, so she does that....and nothing happens.

It was so painfully bad. It may have been a conclusion, satisfying or not, to this trilogy, but it just lost all connection to the rest of the saga. Jedi was the conclusion to the Skywalker saga.

It's important to keep it in context though - JJ inherited an absolute mess. The conclusion was not as satisfying as I'd hoped following TFA but given where we were I'd say JJ did a decent job of rounding it all off

Didn't mention it in my original comment but my biggest gripe was the lack of Anakin/Vader in the plot but it was difficult to write him in following what Rian decided to do with Luke

Also the whole Palpatine thing was not that far-fetched

The Empire was initially defeated because the emperor was killed, not because they lost all their ships and technology. Most of that survived. Palpatine was the most powerful force user who was willing to tap into the "unnatural" dark side of the force so it's not that far-fetched to think he could have cheated death (as has happened with Sith before), regrouped what was left of the Empire, rebuild for 35 years improving and building on the tech and ships the empire already had, and laid the groundwork for his eventual successor, his granddaughter

Agreed that this film was in a no win situation after the nonsense that was TLJ (who was the last Jedi btw? There’s still two of them in this movie)

But even as a stand alone it’s a dreadful incoherent pice of nonsense. It’s like Michael bay made a big noisy fast paced coll croon of action and chase scenes, with a bunch of attempts to please fans with little nods, winks and Easter eggs. And the plot was just filled with holes.

Emperors plan was to have Ren kill Rey, but then it wasn’t, he actually wanted her to come to him and kill him to make some sort of super sith, which she did. And nothing happened.

And the Death Star?

Remember this?

Nothing survives! Never mind a nice mostly intact throne room (granted a few window panes were broken) and a conveniently pristine tie fighter to bring Ren to exogol.

So much wrong. So many holes. As a stand alone it’s a 4 or thereabouts. Certainly I can’t see it being a nearly perfect 9/10 movie.

0/10. Worst Star Wars going. Made the whole star killer base threat in the first null and void. Put in old characters for cheap pops and just god awful. Tried filling plot holes but created more. Woeful
