i would at this stage take football that doesnt induce sleep.

Call me a traditionalist, but I like to see youth players being given a chance at United. I understand what our club is about.

tradionalist. not being funny but our youth system isnt good, no point giving them a shot for the sake of it.
not one who has come through recently has been worthy of the shirt.

nope, just someone who views the success of the club as more important than the continued employment of a former player.
............
Exactly, a glory hunter.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Funny how wanting the best available man for the job (as a matter of opinion) equates to glory hunting. The only opinion that doesn't make one a glory hunter is to appoint Giggs (whom we know next to nothing about as a manger) or keep LVG cos he's here and we don't sack our managers.
As I said before every single manager out there has their draw backs or uncertainities. But to not even consider a highly qualified, motivated Jose Mourinho is just foolishness (for the record he's not my first choice). Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to create a legacy at a club. He's been sacked twice by Chelsea now a club he brought great success to. United could offer him his chance.
I have no doubt that should he be appointed he will be told there is a certain way to behave as United manager. And should his actions be giving the club a bad name he will be out.
The man as an opposition manager is absolutely hateful I agree. So was Fergie. With a little bit of time some people have seemed to a re-written history that his descreations were just that of an old school character. Whether it's eye gouging or throwing a cup of tea at someones head it's not very savoury.
Lighten up VC, Jose being appointed may not be the worst thing ever to happen our club.

Good post that.
and for my information, which manager at this moment of time at a top club in world football is bringing through youth team players atm and putting a proper emphasis on it. cant think of one,

I would re read where I said that and put bit in to context with what was said before.
I see Jose's obvious merits, and his faults, many of which are very similar to LVG's.
The glory hunter bit is aimed at people like Stretty, of whom there are a few on this site who only care about winning.
I am sure you can understand what I am getting at.
of course I care about seeing my side win, its pretty cloody important, is that suppose to be a stick to beat people with these days
of course I care about seeing my side win, its pretty cloody important, is that suppose to be a stick to beat people with these days
...........
It seems to be your only motivation.
what other motivation is there exactly?
I haven't anyone not acknowledge that the guy has faults. A few of his faults mirror that of our current manager but on balance his merits outweigh LVGs faults.
I would say all football fans want a winning team, to what degree that is to the detriment of other things that make someone support a team varies from supporter to supporter. I wouldn't condemn people as long as they stick with the club when they aren't winning. And criticism does not equate to lack of support.
I've alway been of the opinion that Mourinho's football is not as dour as some make out, he is pragmatic, like SAF in his last few years. Gets a few goals up and takes the foot off the gas. How many times did we see this with SAF? If his team is losing he goes the other way. He's not Pep, but his teams were never as bad to watch as this current United side.
exactly, his first chelsea side, and his real side were very good on the eye.

This is true Stretty. Jose's teams are not always boring to watch.
I can also say the same about LVG.
As for the youth side of things, I love seeing players come through our ranks. For me that is also very important and it's something that I'm sure whoever the club to follow LVG (whenever that might be) will emphasise. The club is about to undergo a review and update of it's academy, this will cost money and I'm sure the glazers will want a return on this.
The rules have also changed, Jose will have to adapt, with FFP clubs are under increasing pressure (welcome as it is) to cap the spending. I've no doubt if United have a gem in the ranks he will get a chance if he is good enough. Very few real top quality academy players slip through the net in terms of what they acheive elsewhere. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Pogba, something even the greatest manager of all time let happen.
Mumbai
I agree with that.
If the board do contact Jose, I suspect they will be very adamant on a number of things.
entertaining and success should be the goal which all clubs strive towards. When resources are limited itis understandable to aim for one over the other, this being success.
But at a club like utd where resources are plentiful it is a disgrace a manager would settle to just win. Give lvg or jose a billion and they will still play boring football it is in their dna.

Mourinho won't be different to LVG.
