Charlton

2-0

Mick beat them as well in his tenure, but conseeded a goal 3-1 !?!

3-1 is a better result than 2-0. Go Mick!

Mick was 3-0 if I remember rightly. Herbert is quite right regarding context. Mings was indeed a Mick discovery, so was relevant to my list of his finds. My point was about finding gems, rather than just paying out for them. Clubs can be richly rewarded.

Only debate which throws a spanner in all the works is that obviously given Mick is so superior to hapless Kenny who should indeed be sacked, why did they finish on the same points last season?

Also why in the same time frame in the championship with wolves, why did Mick only pick up two extra points so far?

Either Kenny is over achieving or the Mick thing is a bit of a myth.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's ignoring the respective club's resources though.

You'd expect Wolves to be well above a side like Ipswich, who have been limited to frees and loans in the main. To be consistently above us, and never losing to us, where we are able to spend millions, paints its own picture. It's not a level playing-field in that respect, and it's where managers really earn their corn.

Again, that's my honest view, and not intended to offend anyone. The finances available for sides, and other limitations, are all part of what makes the game fascinating. It's a complex mix of tactics, psychology, maximising what you have, encouragement, and such stuff. The beautiful game.

Right I'm off, be good (if you can) and I'll be back to snatch the 800 from the waiting Herbert

You would think that if you had no idea, but thankfully Ipswich fans are not so daft and fully acknowledge the money is being spent.

Spent more than us last january through may for example, and we signed Afobe.

But its cool, you need to cling to something to try and convince yourself, whilst the rest are fully understanding of the situation.

Not sure why you have to resort to rudeness in every discussion, Cinci. Simply outlining the respective transfer fees would have been helpful, as a comparison.

No rudeness bute.

Just a bit worried for you really, you have spent all morning trying to convince nobody but yourself.

I don't have access to what we spent on transfers and wages in the period you mention, not what the equivalent was at Ipswich. You clearly have those figures, so it would be good to see them. I just recall us buying lots of midfielders plus Afobe. My understanding was that Ipswich were restricted to loans and frees, in the main. If that's not right, I'd be keen to see the figures.

See this is what happens when you debate with someone who has played, trained, coached, managed and nailed at the highest level

Convince myself of what?

Also, the figures for transfers and wages would be useful to at least show the true picture, if it was not as I described.

About Mick.

You have received no resistance about who has done more for wolves but yet have gone over and over it again and even do it on another forum now.

We need to get you help to be honest, it isn't healthy.

And this is my point, given how outclassed Kenny has been by Mick, why did they finish on the same points last season? And why over the same 70 champo games for wolves has Mick only picked up a couple more points?

That's all I am asking.

Just seems odd to me given the huge gulf in talent.

Keep in mind I want Kenny sacked by the way

posted on 30/12/15

Of course. We should be ahead of them given our purchasing power. Being level with them, (or 9 points behind as the League table puts it), is poor given our status.

I've posted figures anyway

I'm with cinci (not like that ) back to back wins doesn't convince me beaver fever is the man for the job

Anyway - those links are great from Tino. If someone can collate them and present in a simple post I'd be grateful.

I'm prepared to give him a chance still. Friday will be a measure when we play at Brighton. I have a feeling we'll win - especially as they lost to a side yesterday that played in our colours! They'll think it's nightmare part 2

Agreed, we shouldn't be behind such an average football team, despite the strength and experience of their squad compared to ours.

Hence I want Kenny sacked, he has destroyed this season.

How about loans?

They spent a feckin fortune on those, not to mention offering better wages to three players we went after.

Chris wood the most notable, we couldn't afford to loan him, they could.

Thanks, Tino. That's impressive (if you're the Ipswich chairman). You do get the impression that MickMack selects who he goes for in the transfer market, rather than accept what's brought in by a separate committee.

Personally I prefer to see a manager left to his own judgement, (as long as he has a track record like Mick's)

My impression is that they were limited to loans. I'm not a finance expert, but I imagine loans show differently on the balance sheet. Shrewd to maximise what you can get.
