Gimme a sniff of your nicotine fingers Bobby
Never understand the habit. Alcohol, substances, maybe all aren't the greatest of pursuits but they all have something about them.
Never actually understood the point of smoking. I'm no raving junkie but in my younger years I partook in a few things.
Cigarettes I never really got?
I quit about a year ago. Just got bored of smoking. Last time I quit for 11 years before deciding to start again (for about 2 and a half years). Here to help!

Total waste of money and you're killing yourself. Why do people do it ?
What if we'd never had tobacco and someone today came up with the idea - imagine the stink that would cause, products on sale that are addictive, kill people and give absolitely NO BENEFITS AT ALL. Would anyone really start smoking ?
I remember my school days and there was always some kid offering them around in a quiet corner of the grounds, everyone took a few puffs, hated it but had to pretend they enjoyed it as IT WAS COOL back then. Now when you see someone holding a faag between their fingers IT JUST LOOKS STUPID
I totally get a compulsion to do something that's not so good for the health. And of course there are those that can't get their head around it.
That raged feeling will die down OP lets just hope not too many people die in the interim!

Never smoked but after putting a bit of weight on over December and the festive period, I decided to get straight after new year. So on 4th of January I gave up sugar and as I can't drink tea or coffee with out it, I inadvertently gave up caffeine!
Also decided that I'd only consume 1200 calories a day and lost 27lb in January!
I'd quite happily kill someone for a kebab and a latte though!

Interested to know how you did that - typical meals would be?

I keep giving up and restarting again because all those "give up smoking" ads put the idea back in my facking head again
-----------------
That's exactly what inspired this thread last night. Some bloody stupid anti smoking ad on the Telly with loads of lovely looking cigs.
Right now the cig replacement is tea. Am on about 8 cups a day at the minute.

Did 3 months abstinence last year, then started 'social smoking' again (just when out, drinking as it's so difficult not to)... now have 1 and only 1 every day after dinner, and then a few on weekends when drinking.
During the cessation though (after about a month), I thought I really wanted one one day. So went outside, lit it and took a drag - fuccck me, it was so disgusting - the flavour was like chewing the contents of an ashtray. Then I nearly fainted due to the ridiculous headrush, face went red and I had to go and lie down that feeling saw me through another 2 months.

It's true - they give you nothing. But, once you've been a smoker the feeling of wanting one never goes. It's very weird.
Its the same with drugs and alcohol though

That you get nothing from it, or the craving never going?
You dont get nothing from it. First time smokers feel light headed.
You body just becomes accustomed to it because you do it multiple times a day.
Like how a drug addict will always crave harder drugs. You ever seen a proper druggie do weed or coke...they do those things to calm themselves...not for the rush
Get nothing from it
I used to do loads of recreational drugs in my late teens/early 20s. Every weekend MD or coke and while I still think occasionally 'ooh, that would be nice' I know I'm pretty much done with it. Quitting smoking though, ALL I could think about all the time was cigarettes, smoking and things related to having quitted (like dreams, appetite etc..)
I quit at Christmas. Hang on in there Manfrom, you can do it, you're over the worst part, the first 72 hours, and you've cracked it. Well done mate. I've seen too many, far too many buddies go with the big 'C' and it's not nice.

What I mean from the first bit is; that the feeling of doing an upper, or smoking weed or drinking is an ACTUAL feeling. Having a cigarette doesn't give you any feeling.

It's the opposite with smoking. Not having one is what gives you the feeling. A negative feeling rather than the positive one.
At least other less addictive drugs give you that high, but cigs just feck you in the a$$ without the common decency of giving you a wee reach around.
